Disability

I found out yesterday that I am not going to be getting disability after waiting for 2 years to apply, appeal, go to a hearing, and waiting for a decision. I can either appeal it again and wait another year or more or start to apply all over again. I am supposed to let my lawyer know by next week what I am going to do. I do not even know if I want to pursue it at all anymore. I would rather work anyway and would work even if I had gotten it and prefer to work part time anyway since it works better with my schedule. I am disappointed but I never really wanted to have to be on it in the first place. It was just a good backup with my illness and my getting and losing jobs. I just hope I get a good job that lasts and gives me some stability. Have others experienced this?

If you got it, you are lucky as it takes many years for some people to get it.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.

@melindataylor22 Welcome..you could take it and then take the ticket to work program so you could keep your benefits and try out new jobs.

Took my uncle a year total to get on it. Some its easier to get than for others. If you need it I'd go after it again.

I am glad that your uncle got it and it took a friend of mine less than a year to get it. I have heard it takes different time periods for different people. I will decide what I want to do and I have time to think about it.

Yes I have tried to do that and have made some money but not much most times. English as a 2nd language tutoring has been 1 way. I am regularly looking for work and always find something eventually.

@KristenH Yes I can try and I have looked into it but I do not like the bidding process.

I have a rare chronic autoimmune disease that effects my skin sensitivity and appearance and my muscle strength, speed, and flexibility. It has made it hard to hold onto jobs so I have been in and out of work and on welfare and also unable to get disability. I can make a little money from home and am looking for work and have a couple interviews and am waiting to hear back about a potential job.
