Movies or Books?

I love readings books and I cure my boredom through watching movies or TV series. Most though would prefer one from the other. Moreover, many books have movie counterparts now. Unfortunately for book lovers like me, I would usually prefer the book version than the on-screen adaptation. How about you, movies or books? Plus, which one would you do first, read the book or watch the movie?

I do love books and movies. But like you, I'm also very much a book lover. So, I think I would prefer the books over the movie.

@JeeyanDee I do like a variety of genres. But I think the genre that I do enjoy the most is the detective/mystery genre. What about you?

@dodo19 I like thrillers, especially medical ones. Then again, I also have a penchant for drama, fantasy, biography and romance, so it would most of the time depend on my mood. How about the authors? Do you have a specific author you like?

Same here! Well, there are a few exceptions to that, but overall, it's books I prefer. Which genre are you interested in?

Whenever I have read the book before watching a movie, I didn't like the movie. If I get a book, I would surely read it first rather than watching a movie.

You have a good point. I would prefer to watch the movies most of the time though because it would be easier for me to imagine how things happen and what things look like when I read the book version

@JeeyanDee Yes, we can have our own imagination whenever we read a book, it may or may not be similar to the movie director's version.

@vsai2008 Well that I think would make the movie disapponting. If the director change the details so much in it, the reason why readers like the book would be the cause of them hating the movie. That's why I think it is very important to stick to the book's details as much as possible when making the movie.

I'm nor a big fan of books. The only time that I was seen with books is when I need to practice my reading skill. I need to read faster because of the I need to read more that I chapter a day to study. And believe me, I read like a preschooler. I actually envy people who read books as if their just scanning the pages. If I could watch or listen to a story, I'd definitely go with that option.

@Neiltarquin Hahaha. Sidney Sheldon is one of my most favorite authors. His novels are the epitome of what a page turner really is.

Well, there are really some who hate the idea of it, one is my brother. Then again, he could be enticed to read when he's really interested with the plot, like the percy jackson series. Have you tried reading something that you're really interested in and not when just forced to do it?

I have always loved reading, but it is a pain to find English language books here. About a two hour walk to the only used book store or if I take the mini bus about an hour. But I am stuck on the old black and white movies I find on YouTube.

The original book is always superior to screen adaptations with exceptions such as Gone With The Wind and The Godfather.

Personally, I prefer to read books. But, it depends on my mood and how awake or tired I am. For example, in the evenings I am mostly too tired to still read a books so I spend some time watching a movie before going to bed.
