Favorite Power Ballads #4 - "Home Sweet Home"

Recently, I celebrated loud guitars with a countdown of my favorite metal songs. And now those bands are back, showing their softer side, on my Favorite Power Ballads series. We are at #4: "Home Sweet Home," by Motley Crue.
From their 1985 album, Theatre of Pain, "Home Sweet Home" was kind of the hit that wasn't. As a single, it stalled at #89 on the Billboard Hot 100.
As for the video, however, do you remember when you could call MTV and request videos? Well, you could. "Home Sweet Home" was the the most requested video on MTV for over three months (MTV had to invent the "Crue Rule," making videos ineligible after 30 days.)
Oddly, Carrie Underwood had a bigger hit with the song, taking it to #21 on the Hot 100.
I've said it before: I'm really not that big of a Motley Crue fan. Other than a couple songs, and the Shout at the Devil album (which I think is really good,) I can take them or leave them. "Home Sweet Home" is one of those songs that I like, obviously enough to make it a Top 5 power ballad.
I've linked to the official, MTV All-Time Champion video. Enjoy!

It will be my favorite power ballad, by a guy who just didn't make them.

Just goes to show you that you can't always go by the Hot 100.

This one I love! I don't remember calling into MTV for videos (except for maybe TRL back in the late 90s) and I do remember the box being a call in music video station. Nice pick!

I forget which song is their all-time top requested video, but I actually wrote about it recently.
