We all love music. There's different genres, artists, and songs that we like. But what's interesting is how we come to discover our taste in certain music.
For me, I'd say most of my musical tastes came from my parents. The listened to a lot of classic rock like Aerosmith, The Eagles, and Foreigner; so that's how I discovered these great artists.
My parents were a huge influence with my music choices, but I have also discovered lots of artists and songs through TV and movies. I'll hear a catchy song while watching TV, I'll go online to see if I can find out the artist. I have to admit I have found a lot of great music thanks to TV.

I listen to Americana radio (primarily WDVX in Knoxville, over the internet) and pay attention to the opening acts at concerts. I also have friends who know me and know what I like who will recommend things that I'll listen to.

@FourWalls Radio and concerts are good ways to find new music, but recommendations from friends help.

the background music from small videos or the re-edited fragments in TV drama. someone really has creditable ideas of re-edition! The BGM really do much match the contents in TV drama.

What I listened to on the radio as a youngster influenced my taste in music. After that just seeing which albums were popular at the time and buying them. Today with U tube it makes finding music you enjoy much easier.

@Jaff1978 I used to watch VH1 when they focused on music, but it's gone downhill now that they show reality shows. I'll have to check out VH1 Classic.
