While it is true that challenges, obstacles, and trials are inevitable, however, always keep in mind that you are blessed with a lot of capabilities to outdo whatever hardships and problems that might come along your way. I know that embracing and having a meaningful life is the greatest dream you can ever fulfill in this world. Most people may have been successful in their works, but they failed to be successful in all aspects of their life. I won`t go further so let`s start enumerating 10 important things to consider in constructing a meaningful life. 1. Spend an ample amount of time for your family and special ones You can never see the value of your works if you do not have time to be with your loved ones. One day, you will never see one or most of your loved ones again. So, don`t procrastinate. As much as possible, share some of your time with them while they are still there. Being busy with other things is not a valid excuse. If you are living far away from your parents, friends or special ones, you can communicate with them daily via text or online communication. However, it is really best to schedule regular visits with them. Always remember that if your relationship towards your loved ones runs smoothly by regular togetherness and communication, you will find it not difficult to approach them when obstacles and trials come along your way. Thus, spending some of your time to all your loved ones is crucial in building, improving and strengthening the relationship that you have with them. 2. Build a healthy lifestyle Healthy eating Overeating endangers your physical and psychological health and increases the chance of developing many types of human diseases. Dan Buettner, an author, stated on his study that the oldest people who are Japanese have a habit of stopping eating when they feel that they are 80% full. Have a balanced and proper diet. Consider adding fruits, fish, and vegetable in your daily kitchen items list. Be choosy to what you eat. Cut down too many sugars, salts, and saturated fat. Drink at least 6 to 8 glass of water every day. Never skip your breakfast – this is the most important meal because it helps you to be active throughout the day. Proper sleeping time The human body cannot survive long without sleep. You are aware that sleeping is not only beneficial to your health but it also makes your life better, and enjoyable. The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) recommended that younger adults (18 to 25 years old) and adults (26 – 64 years old) must have a sleep range of 7 – 9 hours; older adults need to sleep 7 – 8 hours. Lack of sleep may lead to serious health problems, kill sex drive, contribute to the symptoms of depression, develop ages on your skin, promote forgetfulness and obesity, impair the ability to make judgments and interpretations, increase the risk of death, and badly affect how the cognitive processes normally work. Exercises Daily exercises help in slowing aging. A study conducted in 2008 (unknown study) showed that regular exercising can add up 2 - 4 years to your life. However, it is not advisable to do excessive physical exercises because it can do more harm than good to your health. Go for a walk Why not have an at least 30 - minute walk every morning or every evening? It will not only improve your health but also help you develop a stable and positive relationship with the nature. No to smoking and drink alcohol moderately Cigarette smoking is the major risk factor for many types of serious health problems such as lung cancer, heart diseases, body strokes, hypertension and others. Many believe that stress can be relieved through smoking. However, science proves that smoking has nothing to do to cure body stress. Stress actually increases the acid content in the urine and this acid flushes away more nicotine than normal urine does. Therefore, the addiction to nicotine need replenishment of the lost nicotine but the level of stress still remains unaffected. Heavy drinking is damaging to the body especially your heart. It can cause health and behavioral problems such as violence and injuries engagement. On the other hand, moderate drinking may reduce the risk of diabetes, ischemic stroke, and develop heart diseases. Always keep in mind that drinking alcohol moderately is not a risk-free. 3. Keep a daily journal. Having a daily journal can stretch vocabularies, enhance thinking ability and emotional intelligence, boost memory and comprehension, improve communication skills and spark creativity. The journal serves as a permanent record of your daily life and a great opportunity to experience an emotional release and purification. If you feel down throughout the day, just grab your journal and write what your thoughts and emotions. 4. Be grateful always. Showing gratitude is a priceless medicine that can improve your well-being - physical, emotional and mental. According to Harvard Mental Health Letter, “gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.” Hence, be grateful always towards people of all ages. 5. Show kindness. Sometimes, you are kind only to those people who are close to you. But it is best to show kindness beyond those related to you. A helping hand, a cheering smile, or doing a small thoughtful act can often mean much. On the other hand, you will not only be the one who will reap joy but also those people whom you showed kindness. 6. Learn from the experiences of others. It is not necessary that you have to experience things before you learn something. Most often, you also have to open your ears to the stories of others. From there, you will learn from their experiences which will serve as your motivation and as your stepping stone in your journey to life. Additionally, learning from their experiences will also help you avoid making serious mistakes. 7. Find enjoyment to all your hard work Find a job that will build your positive view of hard work. Do not look for a job that will offer high salary but requires long hours of working and you do not particularly enjoy it. Why not look for a job that will help you gain valuable life skills and enjoy the fruits of your labor? It is a job that won`t make you rich but it can provide all your basic needs in life. 8. Focus on positive things If you look life negatively, each day will appear gloomy. If you look life positively, on the other hand, you will have cheerful days. When your discouraging thoughts try to stop you from believing and sticking on positive things, try to reflect on the many good reasons you have to be happy. 9. Show love Hate always endanger life while love is the essence of true life. No matter what happens, always remember that love bears all things. You forgive because you love. You are not easily dragged into the negative actions, failings, and shortcomings of others. Furthermore, you will be motivated to hope the best for others. 10. Always choose wisely Before you put in action your decision or before you act, ask yourself: ``Is this safe to do? Are there people who will be affected? Can I learn from doing so? Will doing this action make it easier or harder for me to grasp a real life? Is it not a waste of time?`` There are a lot of questions you can ask. Asking yourself before you take action to a certain thing helps you reflect and have the strength to make and come up your own informed but wise choice. To end, these 10 essential advises provide a key to your spending, enjoying, wandering, discovering and grasping a meaningful and satisfying life even today.

When I was young, I didn`t build meanings to life. I used to play, laugh, cry, eat and sleep but I know nothing about life. It is just now that I am grown up that I realized how life goes on with/without meaning. I am still discovering valuable things in life that will make it meaningful. Most people only focus on what the world gives them and they forgot to reflect on themselves. I meet a lot of them and I wonder if it is normal not to have a meaningful life. It saddened me to see those people. But I strongly believe that these people will grasp a satisfying life someday.
