Motivate Me Please!

Hello Friends! Can you believe we're already halfway through the month of August? If you're reading this, then I hope you're doing it while on vacation (or holiday as many parts of the world call it), which got me thinking...if you're on vacation, why are you reading this? Big mental fart on your part! So, during this beachiest of months (is that really a word?), I want to know how you find the motivation to get anything done, especially when every muscle in your body is begging you to go relax in a hammock on the beach! Because right now, all I can think of is tan senoritas on a tropical island somewhere. And speaking of tan, make sure you position your laptop, tablet or phone in a way that won't disrupt that awesome sunburn you're working on! Now please, motivate me to get back to work, as this daydream of pretty girls on a tropical island is about to lure me into a nap in la-la land!

Your daydream will turn sour when you imagine that you'll meet Arvind and his buddies from bubblews on your tropical island. They're lying in their hammocks, eating and drinking our money away and laughing their heads off because of our stupidity to trust them.

Wow, you totally killed my dream! How dare Arvind show up in my daydream. I'm going to drag him out into the ocean and hold his head under the water!

Get back to work! You must stay focused . . . or how else are you going to pay for that vacation?

You better get back to work mister! I don't like the beach, I would prefer a cabin in the mountains surrounded by beautiful nature such as a stream or a waterfall. =)

My skin is very pale, I do not tan and I am easily sun burnt, so the beach is not exactly my favorite spot where to spend my summer. I am relaxing here near the mountains and the cool air of the morning and the nights motivate me to do the usual things I do during the rest of the year.

@moffittjc The reason why I do not like the beach, it's the heat. I prefer the cool temperature of the mountains.

@LadyDuck I dislike the heat more than anything, which baffles me as to why I am living in Florida

I would happily exchange the beach for the mountains if it means cooler temperatures! I'm tired of sweating all the time.

@moffittjc , lol! I said I couldn't do it . Think cocktail and mini umbrella . And I am soon going to have to go offline, we have lost power, it is an icy night, and too many people switched on heaters and the grid could not handle it. And did I have batteries charged? Nope! But it is okay, I will think cocktail and mini umbrella too!

You are hilarious!!! I'm trying not to tan too much, since wedding photos look bad when too tan. I'll save my tanning time for Florida. Now get back to work. You have college expenses coming up!!!

@dodo19 I think daydreaming is every important for our well-being. It's a quick, easy way to let our minds wander for a little bit, and help us refresh and reboot.

Oh, I don't know how to motivate you. To be honest, I would like to travel on my birthday which will be soon. Unfortunately, my boyfriend who will be with me cannot do it and if I will travel alone, it will oblige me to spend more money as I have no one to share expenses with. Well, I got an idea. Just think that you need to work and earn money for your next grand vacation. I think I am just going to save my money for our next trip abroad.

@annierose At least once a year I try to take a nice vacation somewhere. It isn't easy saving up all the money sometimes, but I try to put money aside in the bank every chance I get just so I can put it toward my vacation plans.

Not on vacation either...but also trying to figure out how to get motivated! I live in California but I've only ever visited the beach three times in my life, and I've never just gotten to hang out and enjoy the beach while visiting...they were just quick pit stops so we could see the ocean and then get back in the car and continue on our way. I used to dream of going to the beach as a kid.

@moffittjc I live in the central valley...which is only a couple hours away from the coast, but as a kid my parents never took us to the beach. One of my aunts always promised to take us to Fort Bragg but she never did. The first time I saw the ocean was when I was 12 as part of a school field trip to the Bay Area -- we got to spend some time on the beach, but we weren't allowed to have fun. They made us pick up trash. Then I didn't see the ocean again until I was 24, and then again when I was 31. From what little time I've spent at the beach, I do love the ocean...but I would probably never step foot in it as I'm not a very good swimmer. It would be nice to lounge around in the sand though. One of my regrets in life is that I've never been able to spend time at the beach like a "true" Californian. Everyone else I know always goes to the coast in the summer to go camping and whatnot.

Wow, you've only been to the beach three times? How far inland do you live? I was very fortunate as a child, because I grew up on the beach. Literally. My grandmother had a house on the beach in south Florida, before all the developers came in and destroyed everything by putting condos up everywhere. I used to start and end my days on the beach, and I sure do miss that these days!
