Favorite Gary Moore Songs #5 - "Shapes of Things"

I was going to say that we were stepping away from protest songs in my Favorite Gary Moore Songs series, but then I remembered that #5, "Shapes of Things," has a bit of an anti-war thing going on in it's own right. THIS is how you do a cover song. When Gary Moore covered the Yardbirds classic for his 1983 album, Victims of the Future, he did what you should do. He made the song his own, turning the psychedelic tune into a muscular slab of arena rock. "Shapes of Things" was recorded by an all-star lineup: bassist Neil Murray, keyboardist Neil Carter, and Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice, with Slade's Noddy Holder on backing vocals. "Shapes of Things" was a bit of a disappointment as a single, charting only in the UK, where it stalled at #77 (it was tailor-made for American rock radio, and I distinctly remember hearing it on our local AOR FM, but as usual with Gary Moore, it just didn't chart in the States.) The video is a concert performance from 1984. It's loaded full of white hot shredding that proves the sheer awesomeness that was Gary Moore. (Info verified by Wikipedia)
Guitar God Gary Moore and his solo band perform an outstanding version of the classic "Shapes Of Things" in Ireland in 1984.

Wow! Completely different song!! And by 1984 FM rock only played what they were told to play, and they weren't told to play this.

They played it for a couple weeks or so here, but they did seem to lose interest quickly.

I saw the title and thought there's another song with that name and you answered the question.
