How do you clean your optical glasses?

optical glasses

In the past I just cleaned it with the cloth. Of course the result is not very good. Now I learned a practical and easy method. That's I can use a little liquid detergent and water and it can clean the optical glasses well and clear. It works very well.

I just use a cloth made for cleaning glasses no cleaning solution. I am constantly cleaning it. When it gets very bad, I use white vinegar.

I think white vinegar will work although I didn't know this method before. But it is easy for me to get the liquid detergent

@youless Yes my glasses are not prescription..they are just readers and they are so cheap, that I can replace them. 3 pairs for $7 at Walmart lol

@TiarasOceanView Wash the lenses with dish soap and water and rinse them very well, it's the best system. I do this from years, you do not risk to scratch the lenses.

This is what I have always done, a bit of detergent and water and I wash the lenses.

@youless When the optician made my first pair of glasses, I think it was around 20 years ago, he suggested to wash them with a bit of detergent and water because it was a lot better than to use a product and less expensive.

I use the cleaning solution and cloth from the optometrists when I purchased my prescription glasses.

Cleaning solution sounds like something very professional and especially expensive

Depends on what stain they get on them. But good quality paper handkerchief does a good job too for very minor stains.

Since in the past I often used my clothes to clean my optical glasses, so I suddenly found it worked so well to clean them with liquid detergent.

Thanks for the tip! I always use a dry piece of toilet paper to clean off fingerprints and such. Works better than cloth imo.

I guess I need to try this too. My glasses always look awful. The trouble is that there's a non-reflective coating on them which is probably wearing off so I'm not sure they'll ever look good.
