I went out the front door to go to work this morning - just before 9:00. I like to walk to work in the summer if weather is nice, but today I stopped at my car to grab an umbrella I keep in there just in case. As I got into the front passenger seat, I found an unspent round (looks like maybe a .38) lying in the street curb next to my rear tire. It had a silver casing. I called the police and waited for an officer to arrive. While I waited, I sat down on my steps. Then I saw an empty brass casing on the sidewalk by our flower garden. I got up and walked around a bit more, then I saw another empty brass casing next to the steps where I was sitting. These two brass shells were less than ten feet away from my bed pillows where I sleep right on the other side of a window. Just before the cop showed up, I found an empty silver casing on the base of my windshield in the depression by the windshield wiper. When the officer arrived, I learned that a shooting had taken place last Tuesday evening - it was reported down the street where they recovered bullet fragments then. I never heard it myself (I was likely in another room sitting in front of a loud air conditioner with earbuds in my ears at the time), but after asking my wife - she recalled hearing fire crackers out in front of the house Tuesday around 11:00. THANK YOU, Jesus, for keeping us safe while these thoughtless thugs carry out their battles near so many innocent victims. I went online to post this on Facebook, and there I see that a few hours before a judge was shot in my hometown in Steubenville, Ohio as he came to the courthouse this morning. What is wrong with people?!?
