Remembering Richard

Richard was not part of our family very long. He began dating my best friend in 2015. Some of the family had a hard time with this at first because my friend use to date my brother. When he broke up with her and Richard came onto the scene, it seemed as though it might be awkward, but it wasn't. He became a part of us. He loved us. He was so good my friend. He came to all the kids school functions, our family Bible study, and boy did he jump in and become a part of our Halloween celebration. He made it happen one year. My friend, who usually headed up the Halloween Trail was recovering from being ran over by a hit and run car, so she was moving really slow. Richard stepped it up and saved the day. Two months after Halloween, we found out he had colon cancer. He had never really been sick. He just looked jaundiced one day at church and my friend Carolyn, being a paramedic, noticed it. Six months later, a few weeks before they were to be married, he passed away. Don't take the ones who love you for granted. Cherish and serve those you love. Don't waste time on toxic relationships. Life is too short, so live it to the fullest.

Oh I'm sorry. He sounds like a great guy. It's true, we never know when our time is up so we should cherish every moment we have.
