My now favorite place to hang out is a cemetery just about 3/4 of a mile from my house. This is not your normal cemetery. This place is a hidden gem in the city. It is seriously like a nature preserve. Every time I go I am just blown away by the amount of wildlife I see.
The place is called Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford CT. You can Google it for more pics. They even hold concerts there and have movies, nature walks and scavenger hunts.. Amazing place.
Monday I went again with my trusty camera, my Nikon P900. And it didn't disappoint. I took over 600 pictures.. This is just one of my favorites from this trip. A GREAT BLUE HERON.

@YrNemo I don't know. but you are right they must have great eyesight. and there are videos on Youtube of them eating much bigger things than this fish.. and other animals like Gophers and rabbits.... they just swallow them whole and usually the animals are still moving.. ew.

herons here are white, and they are often seen in the rice fields.

oh, aren't the White ones usually called Egrets.. I don't know many as this is something that is not common around here.. these Great Blue Herons are really the only ones i see around here.. they are getting more and more prevalent around the cities and in the ponds.. I think the white ones may be more visible near the shore and ocean.. but I don't really go there often.

Yes, I thought so too.. but they are having a movie tomorrow night there..
Katherine Hepburn is buried there and they are going to show one of her movies tomorrow night... I have to work so I can not go. But they are having a Mushroom Walk on Saturday morning.. I might go to that!
They also have tours and bird walks and all kinds of things. Oh and next month a Scavenger hunt.

It really is.. I spent 4 hours there ... this time... it is just beautiful.
