I guess so. No umbrellas inside, never put new shoes on a table, don't cut fingernails on a Friday... come's from my Irish grandmother!

I have never been superstitious, but I find a lot of superstitions to be a fascinating part of folklore.
Many of them can be traced back to their origin and have relevance of one kind or another. Obvious examples would be walking under a ladder whereby someone could drop something, and the third light being unlucky because of the trenches in the wartime.

No, I don't think I'm superstitious but there are a lot of things I do 'just in case', like saluting a magpie, throwing salt over one's shoulder and touching wood. I don't see that it does any harm, it keeps old traditions alive and it's better to be safe than sorry!
