Work and bills and stuff

Hey guys and gals. Sorry I haven't been around much. Been putting in a lot of hours at the new job, and it's busy season around here with Marching Band and soccer and school about to start. Honestly any free time I get I've just been playing a game on my phone to unwind..
Well let me catch you up. Work is going pretty well. The first couple weeks were tough as it was all just training and I already know most of it as I've been doing this type of work for awhile. All I really need to learn is the new system but it's pretty easy.
Well the training is finally over and I'm doing actual work. It's very busy! I'm on my feet all day which I'm not really used to, and we are a high volume branch so it's kind of constant all the time. It's good because it makes the day go by fast.. but I'm drained by the end of the day! Otherwise I like it pretty well, and I like the people I work with. That's really the important thing, right?
A few days before I switched jobs, hubby found out his company is being sold. He was a bit worried for awhile.. but then he found out he'll keep his position, pay, benefits and all. The only thing that will change is when he gets paid. Instead of being paid weekly he's going to be switched to biweekly. Actually in September he'll have to go 3 weeks without pay until he gets his first check from the new company. That might hurt a little and we're worried about falling behind. We don't have much in savings.. at least not enough to pay all our bills for a month! Falling behind is the worst because it's so hard to catch back up! But I guess for now we just wait and see how we do. I'm sure we'll be allright.
Hope you're all enjoying the last days of summer until the kids go back to school and the days get cooler!

I'm trying to build a nest egg.. but it seems whenever I get a little in there it's needed for something. Right now I have $30 in my savings account, LOL! My last check was shorted because they messed up my tax deductions.. so while I thought I was going to put all the extra aside to save for next month, instead I had to use a bit of the savings just to get through till my next check.

@katsmeow1213 Yikes!!!!! I have more than that lying on my bedroom dresser! I'm sure they will adjust your next check to make up the difference next payday. Please put some aside each payday. That is no way to live! I'd cut back on the frivolities before I let that happen.

@DianneN Nobody is really at fault for my check being messed up.. so I won't get that back, just have to bite the bullet.
We'll be fine at the end of September.. just gotta get through till then.
And we have cut back a lot of on the frivolities... haven't done a thing all summer except the 2 camping trips which were paid for back in the Spring.

Glad to hear work is going well! I think you made a good decision to take on this new job . The catch up game is difficult, but I'm sure you'll be ok too . . . we've all gone through hairy moments and lived to tell about it, right? I thought I'd have a little more time with the kids being back in school - but I seem to have less and haven't been able to be here consistently . . . ah life !!

Glad you're enjoying your new position. Vince changed jobs once and we had a month without a pay. It was pretty difficult.

It was a big surprise.. they came in one day and said company had been sold and was now corporate. He got all freaked out. In the days following he got more information that calmed him some.. he was told he'd have same pay and hours, and he'd keep his benefits for a month. They're up this week and he has to select a new plan which is more expensive.. Sept 1 is when the major switch actually happens.

@katsmeow1213 I can imagine it would come as a huge shock. I hope it all turns out okay in the end.

I do agree that when you fall behind it takes time to catch back up. I got a new job that has been taking up a lot of my time to the point that i do not have time to do anything else. Bills are so depressing but we have to pay them. It seems like as soon as I get paid the money instantly leaves my hand and goes on a bill. I know the feeling all too well.

But at least you have the money to pay those bills. When I stayed home with the kids we were constantly behind and didn't know how to pay all the bills. Most summers we went without a phone because we couldn't afford to pay it and if the kids weren't in school there was no need for a phone. Once they were back in school I wanted a phone again in case there was a problem with them while they were in school.
Now we're doing better. We have a home phone and me, hubby, and 2 of the kids have cell phones.. and although it's expensive we manage to pay the bill every month.
