So, as I mentioned, I use selling apps to sell to locals around here. Some of them actually aren't too local though, and don't seem to want to meet me anywhere. This woman was fairly close by, but she agreed to meet me in an area that was relatively close to both of us. I sold a sound spa combo alarm clock, binoculars, and a warming cushion used for either stadiums or hunting. I was lucky to sell them all because they all had some minor problems..but she paid me well for them..as compared to a yard sale anyway! So I was happy..! Do you ever sell to local people?

I use facebook yard sale groups and they are mostly local but two or three have driven over an hour each way to pick something up - we don't 'deliver' if you want it you come here to pick it up. If they want it badly enough they do. A few times we agreed to meet people at such and such place and they were no shows...so we do not agree to that every again.

That is one advantage of a cell because I will always tell people stuff like text me before you come, or I ask them if they are still coming. That works..Once with FB some crazy lady didn't show up and was trying to get me to meet in a bunch of odd places..I forgot what the item was but I told her I am not running all over creation for a 10.00 item. I sold it to someone else.

@snowy22315 We have met people at a local gas station if the items are more than 25 bucks ... anything heavy or big we don't meet.
I have a cell phone for emergency calls out only - in case of tornado - I don't use the phone, I have no need for it. I do fine with a landline. If someone wants to come here they can call on the regular phone LOL!

Yes, I mean if you aren't using them and they are just creting clutter..why not sell? I have to get things out of here anyway, because I am putting my house on the market..ASAP. I may not sell it but I will try.

@LadyDuck Honestly, not sure how much of my furniture I would move..most of it has seen better days..but I will decide that when the time comes.

@snowy22315 This is what we did when we moved from France, we sold all the furniture. It costed less to buy new here than to pay the moving and the custom.

Not new..just stuff around the house..You have to have what people are interested in though or it can just sit there.

That is really good. They have a big free section too on letgo and someone was offering a washer and dryer for free! I wonder if they really worked..I wish someone would put a freezer on there! Actually, though I probably shouldn't try to acquire one at the moment.

Yes, they can be good too..but it really seems to me that more people are using the selling apps now. There is not as much posted on our local FB yard sale sites as there used to be.

@AbbyGreenhill Whatever works for you..what works for one person doesn't work for another and vice versa.

@snowy22315 Many of us don't use a cell phone - me included and the Facebook pages are loaded with items, more than usual.

Electronics really sell the best..although I have had a laser printer on that site that no one has even asked about..It isn't in fantastic shape, but it works..and the toner was replaced not that long ago.

Wow! Congrats on that sale. I've seen my boss who is a triathlon athlete sells parts sometimes his whole bike to some facebook bike selling groups and I have to say he has quite a lot of network and people who knows about those kind of things. And those bikes cost thousands of dollars because of parts costing hundred of dollars too. Although he only sell it if the company of his father has some minor problems on funds. Well they are businessman so they are used to these kind of things.
