Shhhh. After just focusing on Gary Moore for my last music countdown, I have a theme this time around: my Favorite "Silent" Songs, songs with "silent," or "silence" in the title. The #10 spot belongs to the legendary Miles Davis with "In a Silent Way." Miles Davis' 1969 album, In a Silent Way, was the beginning of Miles' fusion period, his first electric record, and he didn't fool around: the album was recorded in just one day. Due to the major style change, reaction was mixed, but it is now widely regarded as one of the trumpter's best albums. Combined with the 11 1/2 minute tune, "It's About that Time," "In a Silent Way," in two parts, takes up the entirety of side two. The video is a 7 1/2 minute live performance in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1988. Despite every sweet, sweet note that emits from Miles' trumpet (both muted and unmuted,) the highlight is a lengthy blues guitar solo that blues guitar aficionados should appreciate. What can I say? I love Miles Davis. As Quincy Jones once said, the man reinvented jazz five times. How can I not love listening to such a forward thinker? (Info verified by Wikipedia)

sounds a good choice for a list - thinking of a few possible inclusions I might have added if it was my list - great number to start with

I have tried jazz, I can appreciate it - but am finding it to be an acquired taste...

No, I haven't even had a chance yet. I've heard that it's really good.
