I have flown as a passenger thousands of hours..about 50,000 a year until I retired. I remember the first time I was in a 747 and they had installed the seat monitors and was enjoying the navigation screen while flying from Los Angeles International to Osaka Japan. But then I started to get concerned (I had no idea about navigation). Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oregon, Canada, and so forth. Now we all know that Osaka is pretty much West of Los Angeles, so I dutifully pressed the call button for a flight attendant. When she arrived, I pointed to the monitor and politely asked her shouldn't the pilot start turning left? She looked at me like I was an idiot and explained about curvature of the earth, jet streams, and how planes navigate on long hauls. Then while I was blushing, she asked me if I would like another drink.
