Why Not Answer Your Comments On MyLot?

I leave comments on posts and the author doesn’t bother to respond to a single comment. Many authors on here write posts that attract over 40 comments. When you look at the posts you don’t see a single response from the author. All I see is the people here commenting and interacting between themselves.
You have the time to come here, write, and post your discussions. But you don’t have the time to answer your comments. However, you post again. Why? These people attract a lot of comments on what they write, and they don’t seem to care.
The site is like a mini blog site where each person has their own personal blog. You can write what you want and post for the community to read and respond. You are here to share and attract new followers. The only way to do this is by responding to your comments.
I get it notifications take a long time to respond to and it takes time to answer all your comments. If you don’t have the time to answer your comments why write again?
I know most people try to answer their comments and read their notifications. But some just come here to write. This is good and bad at the same time. I like to read what the author thought about the comment I left them. In the end when this happens I just ignore the author and don’t bother to spend my time reading what they have written or leaving a comment behind.
What are your thoughts about people who just write and never bother to respond to a comment you’ve left them?
Personally I’d love 40+ comments on what I write, but I know this will never happen. I just keep writing and I am happy if just one person reads it and leaves me a comment.

I've ask this question before, Ann. I ask one author who had already written a new discussion without ever replying to a single comment that had been written on the previous discussion. I also ask the people who had responded on that discussion why they bothered since the author never got back to them... THEN the author came in and told me he was working on getting better at replying to responses on his discussions.
When I checked over a week later the author had written several more discussions but still wasn't replying to anyone responding on his discussions. That doesn't sound like he was trying to get better at replying to me! SMH!
That author comes up with some excellent discussion topics, too! I simply refuse to respond to anything he writes anymore.

@poehere I always try to respond to comments left for me, but sometimes there just isn't anything left to say. (Usually, by the time I have run out of things to say it is many responses and days later, though!)

If you read one comment here the person said they don't have to respond back to a comment. A simple like is good enough and adds to the person's earning. This to me is lame. I could go down all of my comments and never read one and just hit the like. This is way to easy and shows the person who took time to leave a comment disrespect.
I have stopped wasting my time on these people. Plus, most of them never even bother to comment on anything I have written. So why bother to add to their earning when they can't even respond to a simple comment.

@DaddyEvil This happens so often. At that point I do give a like and a thumbs up and close it down.

@AbbyGreenhill I do too. However, one comment sort of got me here. A person feels that he shouldn't answer and only go down the list and hit like. I think this is lame and not a good way to be here on the site.

There have been times, few, when I have received that many comments on a post. It always surprises me when that happens. I feel elated and stressed at the same time. Forty comments takes a long time to read. However, I love reading them and responding, and then checking out their posts for their latest blog. I'm rarely disappointed with the gems I find when I visit those who comment on my posts. There are those who only leave one line posts and I don't have much to comment on, but I do my best.
I often wonder why people don't respond back when I comment, but I know that sometimes life gets hectic, and it might take a while before that person reads and responds. It's sad when they never do.

I'm happy I almost always comment back to people, but I don't have to.. as its not a rule.. Just like we may comment on someones posts, but they won't take the 2 seconds it takes to go read and comment one of ours. And they don't have to.. it would be nice if thats how things were but its not.

That is how I feel. Plus when you are nice to someone and leave a comment they normally want to see who you are and come and read some of your stuff. That is how we meet people here and make new friends. I always try and answer everyone. Even a few at a time is better than 0.

I try my best to get back to every comment and I do it by going to the discussion and not the notifications because I will miss someone in all that mess.
I see many that do that also, even a like is letting others know they read it and commented.

I know it is faster to go to my recent discussion and answer the comments from there. Then in notifications I can go down the list and delete the ones for that discussion. I always try to do this too. I know it might take me some time, but I always get back to everyone. I have seen recently that a few people have written quite a few discussions and have tons of comments and they haven't even responded once. I also give likes to a comment if I don't have anything else to input.

I give every comment to a post of mine a "like" which contributes to a member's earnings. I rarely comment on a comment so I would one of those you object to. Most of the time there is nothing additional of a constructive nature for me to add. The idea of a discussion here is throwing out something for the membership to get into and talk about and does not require the participation of the poster on every single comment. A "like" is my saying Thank you without redundancy of a zillion Thank you responses. To response to every single comment on a post would make myLot a full time job. If you choose to ignore my posts because I don't respond to your response as you desire, that's fine. BTW, I spend 95% of my time here reading posts, making comments on them and dealing with notifications.

Some of the comments I receive needs an answer and not just a like on them. It is not the fact that I contribute to the earnings of another, it is the respect I have for them to let them know how I feel. It is also the responses I give back to their comments that starts a great conversation on the post. That is how I have meet a lot of good people here. I love the back and forth with them on a discussion. A lot of time it leads away from the original discussion and onto a new road. That is what is fun and why I do it.

I'm one of those who replies to all comments left in the discussions that I started. So, I have learned to minimize posting new discussions as I do not want my notifications to pile up. I see your point about posters not replying to comments left in their discussion. I guess everyone does myLot differently.

I do the same. At times it can take a day or two until people wind down on a discussion. Then it is Ok to do another one. I would rather spend time answering on my discussion and leaving comments on other discussion. Then I have time to answer my own and read what people thought of my comment to them. After time I will start a new discussion if I have something interesting to say.

@allknowing I have disabled many of my notifications, Allknowing. There are many times when responses to what I am saying/doing on myLot will bring in easily 150+ notifications while I am asleep or at work. (That is the count after I turned off everything except a direct tag to me. If the person doesn't tag me in their comment, I never know they spoke to me.)
When I first started on myLot, you were one of the first people I spoke with. After people started showing up in my introductory post, I was forced to de-activate most of my notifications. I received over 500 separate notifications in one day. Luckily, that number decreased to 150 notifications after I shut the rest of them down. (I was simply overwhelmed at first. I started panicking, so knew I had to do something! Someone suggested stopping everything except direct tags, so that is what I did. It worked for me!)

I do my best to respond to all comments in my posts . . In fact, I make it a point to go back to my old posts and respond to late comments of fellow myLoters. However, since I have a full time job and a part-time . . sometimes I could not respond right away . . Yeah, there are some who don't care to respond at all . . .

I know you do and so do most of the people. There are a few on here that don't bother and it gets me how they have so many people who keeps on commenting on what they write. I wish that was the same for everyone on here. I also work and run an organic garden. I don't have a lot of time to be on the site. I am lucky if I have 1 hour a day and most days it isn't even that. So like everyone I do what I can and then put the rest off for the next time I can come back here.

@ramapo17 You are so right. I have a lot going on and if it's raining here I am home working on computers. When I download drivers or fix hard drives I can spend a little extra time on here to try and catch up. Other than this i am gone all day and have so much to do. I come home and I am tired and at times I can't sit here all night to read and comment back.

So far, I haven't experienced this yet I think because if there's no reply, they'll just like my comment. I'm not really one to say though because I've been a member only about a month, so I'm still a baby here compared to you. Haha

I think some believe they make more money by just moving on and writing a new discussion. I try to answer all the comments made on my discussions. Sometimes I don't know what to respond on a comment and in that case I will at least hit the like so the person knows I read it (or at least I hope the person knows I read it).

A person shouldn't reply to every single comment on his/her own discussion (or any for that matter) unless he/she has anything to add to it. Better to not reply than to respond with "thanks for commenting" or some other generic response. That's just my opinion though.

You are right. If you can add to the comment, then answer. If not, then like the comment and move on. Nobody is forced to answer every comment on a post.

@lovebuglena In the FAQ section just thanking a person doesn't count as a response and it can be deleted. I think if you have nothing more to add a like and thumbs up is great with thanks on the end.

@poehere There are people that want to thank everyone for commenting. Instead of saying that in every comment reply, I think it would be better to just end every discussion with something like "Thank you to everyone for your comments"... This way you thank everyone in one shot and don't have to repeat it in every reply.

@poehere I guess my response would be, sometimes we get tied up with other obligations. Thus, the hours just slip by. I love to respond when others show an interest, it makes this site more fun. For most of us though, time is probably the main issue. I still lack understanding about My Lot, but reading what others write makes more money.

@poehere No, that doesn't get us anywhere, just writing:( On one site, we were encouraged to do that. On My Lot, they stress the importance of reaching out to others, by reading and then leaving a sincere comment:) I like this concept much better, we actually get to know other members!

I know sometimes I get busy after posting or that I will go read other posts and lose track of my notifications so I don't always respond, but they people who legit never respond I find annoying. I think if people took time to read and comment on your post you could at least respond some of the time

I know life is busy and everyone is very busy with life. I respond back when I have time. I don't always have time, but when I do I catch up on all of my responses. It can take a few days and I know this one. But to never respond back is not right. Some people think it is only necessary to hit like on all of their responses. When this one happens a lot I just move on and ignore them. I don't leave them anymore because it is too easy to hit like and never read what a person wrote.
