Which smart phone do you currently own? Has it ever been broken/cracked/damaged and if it did, have you repaired it from the service center?

Recently my sony ericson phone got broken (screen shattered). I took it to the service center but they were going to charge me exorbitantly (at that amount I could easily buy a decent Chinese smart phone by the likes of Xiomi and/or other phones). So I got it repaired from a local tech by paying a lesser amount. But within a month the phone's screen cracked again without even falling down. I realized these local tech guys buy duplicate parts from eBay and for which reasons they don't give you any warranty. Now I don't want to get it repaired from the local tech but have to take it to the service center and pay whatever they quote. Have you ever got your phone repaired or been in my shoes?

I only buy another phone when I really need it, or if my phone is not capable of things I need to do in it. Some of my past phones got defective or malfunctioned, some accidentally broken. Hopefully, my iPhone won't follow, got it repaired 3 times already due to its charging socket. That sad thing is that the phone shop keeps changing the so-called defective part, charging me $18-30. Only later I found that I'll just have to clean the inner part of the charging socket and it will work again. Those people are corrupt in their way of living. we've got to be wise sometimes.

@moneychaser For expensive electronics like iPhone, it's better to get it repaired from authorised service centres, considering all the parts being manufactured in China, so you never know if the crooked may replace parts with cheaper parts (non-quality checked stuff)

I have an LG Optimus Rebel, it was a cheap phone if it breaks I will just get another one.
