Scored Free Entry Tickets to the Fair!

We headed out late to the fair last night. Stopped at McDonald's just before we got to the fair and grabbed burgers, chicken nuggets, and French fries for a quick and cheap bite to eat.
The cost to enter the fair was $12 per adult. Children under 13 were free. That would have cost us $24 just to get into the fair. As I was rummaging through my purse for the money, a lady stepped up and offered us 2 tickets to get into the fair. Of course I took her up on the offer and thanked her them.
We walked around the fair and saw the animals first. Little Miss was in awe of them. After the chicken display we watched an animated chicken show. She loved that. She sang and danced to the songs.
We then walked around to the rides. There were only a few rides for little ones. So we got 6 tickets to start out. Tickets were $1.25 each. Most of the rides took 3 or more tickets. She rode the little cars first. Second was the bouncy house and she only stayed a short time inside bouncing around before the novelty of it wore off. Then we went back to the car rides.
Hubby got her strapped in and told her not to stand up. She did great on the first ride, but we of course still worried that she would try to stand up. As soon as the ride started, she had a smile on her face. There was a commotion and people yelling stop the ride stop the ride! One of the littles had stood up when the ride started up and fell off the car onto the track. His shirt was hooked on the bumper and he was being dragged on his belly. The operator stopped the ride and grabbed the little boy and handed him to his father. I was freaking just a little bit.
The boy unharmed, thankfully! He was shook up as were his parents. The medical staff came over and checked him out. He didn't appear to have any other injuries.
We decided that it was a fluke and let Little Miss stay on the ride. It just went around in circles. Told her to hang on the the wheel and not stand up again. She listened and enjoyed the ride.
On the way out we walked past the monster trucks that were in the arena. They were very loud and I had to keep blocking her ears to avoid injury from the noise. We went to the John Deer shop and picked up ear plugs for her. They were normally $2 and the shopkeeper gave them to us. That was a nice gesture and we thanked him for the gift.
The plugs were a bit too big, but did the job. We didn't get to see the monster trucks because the crowd was too large. So, we decided that it was time to go home. We stopped to pick up a bag of popcorn and visited with the horses again. Then headed for home.
Little Miss was exhausted. She walked by herself, holding our hands, through the entire fair. However, she was too wired to fall asleep.
Next week we are off again to another fair. There will be fireworks when it is dark. She will love that too.
All in all, not too bad for a day of fun. Only spent about $16!

Thanks OT. We had a fun time. It isn't my favorite fair, but it was a good one to introduce Little Miss to. She had the best time.

Valerie she was so excited to watch the fireworks. It was a bit cool that night and we wrapped her up in my husband's sweatshirt for warmth. She stayed awake all the way home. Once in bed she was out like a light. The night air was good for her.

@just4him it didn't take long for her to fall asleep. She was up quite late. Thought she would sleep on the way home, but she was too wired for that.

@ElusiveButterfly I'm glad she loved the fireworks. It's so good to see a smile on a little one's face. I can imagine she was asleep as soon as you got her home.

I couldn't even take the level of the noise. I chose to cover her sensitive ears instead of mine.

@LadyDuck I personally do not like watching them. Hubby gets a kick out of it though. I would have to wear earplugs to watch them. I can't take the noise.

@ElusiveButterfly I cannot stay in places with this level of noise, I immediately get a terrible headache.

Poor boy. Maybe his dad didn't tell him not to stand up. Although, some kids just dont listen regardless. Glad he wasnt hurt though.
Our fair is $12 for adults, $5 for kids 5-12 and 4 and under free. But our ride tickets are just $1 a piece or a bundle for this or that.

Yeah, that was a little bit freaky. After they little guy was checked out they let the ride begin again. It was the child who was at fault for the incident. Sadly I am not certain that his parents told him to stay seated when they strapped him in. He probably decided he didn't want to be on the ride and stood up to get off just as the ride started.

@Jeanniemaries scared the parents more than the child.

We spent more at the second fair. The fireworks were worth the money spent.

I felt quite fortunate that we got the free tickets. We wanted to go to another fair next weekend and was not sure if we could afford to go to both. Now we can go to the next one too!

That was so kind of that lady to give you tickets to the fair. That helped save a bunch. Little Miss seemed to have a grand time. I am so glad that she didn't stand up on that ride.
I am glad to hear that the little boy wasn't hurt. That had to be scary.
I love going to fairs. So where is the next one at?

That sounds like a pretty awesome day for $16.00... I really have to check to see when the fair starts here in Manitoba. I have no idea and haven't heard anything about it as of yet!

Sounds like a fun day for all especially since you got free tickets and the whole day was only $16. Wow that must have been very scary when that little boy fell off the ride but a miracle that he wasn't hurt.

He was scared and his parents were frantic. I wonder now if they told him to stay in his seat and not stand up. We repeatedly told Little Miss that she was not to stand up and not to tamper with the buckle.

The little guy was not even crying. I think he was too scared to cry. His parents were freaking out.

Wow, 2 free tix were a nice gift from the lady! You did good - fair food is so tasty but expensive, sometimes I do that too - I will eat somewhere cheap before I go. Happy that kid was alright

I bought some yeast so I can make fried dough for the hubby. Cheaper that way.
