Look What I Bought

Dog Pushchair

We went out to a big flea Market today. Usually in August we would not venture out to spend a morning wandering round an outdoor market as it is so hot. We had been out wandering the market for about half an hour and I was overheating. We were about half way up the length of the market and decided to sit at one of the café type stalls to have a cold drink. We had brought our little dog Bosun with us to the market. Because it was hot we had brought his collapsible bowl with us so we could give him some water. So there we were sat watching all the people walking past enjoying the market. As we drank our cool drinks a couple went past with a slightly smaller but older version of our dog Bosun. But the dog was not on a lead he was sitting in a purpose built dog pushchair. I said to my hubby “just look at that” and pointed at the pushchair, the dog looked like he was king of the castle. He was clearly enjoying his ride round the market in his purpose built pushchair. I said to my hubby “how neat is that I could just see Bosun in one of them” and we both laughed. We finished our drinks and carried on looking on the stalls. It wasn't long after that I told my hubby that I had seen enough and was ready to turn around. We started walking back, then my hubby said to me “look over there” and pointed to a market stall. On the stall there was a pink version of the dog pushchair that we had seen while we were having our drink. Isn't it funny how you see something that you have never seen before, and then you seem to see them all over the place. In my best Spanish asked the stall holder how much and he said 10 euro, that is a ridiculously low price. I could see that at that price my hubby really wanted it but was wavering. He was wavering because our Bosun is only two and a half years old so he is in no need of a push chair. I said to my hubby at that price it is worth getting for a laugh. Yes I know I am easily amused, you can tell that I don't get out much can't you lol.. So yes we bought it and laughed all the way home. Plus I stuck all the bits we had bought at the flea market in the pushchair and pushed it back to the car. It pushes like a dream and so it was worth the money if only to carry our stuff back to the car in. I am sure that it will get used even if it is not by us. We are involved with a local dog charity. Our friend Annie runs the charity and often fosters the dogs when they first come in. Some times if the dogs are ill Annie has to carry them round to see the local vet. So I can see this little beauty taking the strain out of the job in the future. What strange thing had you bought on a whim at a flea market or car-boot sale?

@Butterfingers I love flea markets Raj because you never know what you are going to find and the prices are often very cheap.

This is cute and if you do not use it, it will surely come handy when Annie needs to bring an old dog to the Vet.

@maggs224 It's a good thing if you cannot miss it in the dark.

I can't wait to see Annie's face when we show it to her. One thing even at night you will be hard to miss this buggy as it has reflective strips all over it

Never seen one of those before. You going to fit a tow-bar to your electric mobility scooter? ;)

@pgntwo I've had to come to the conclusion that Bosun thinks that it is his scooter and that I am just his driver. So I don't think he will be giving up his motorised ride any day soon lol...

I must admit a larger version of this would have come in handy when our 17 year old dog was having mobility problems and was in such pain.

I cannot think of anything but when I used to drive I drove this elderly lady once a month to Scott`s antique flea market and I seen people with regular baby strollers for their dogs., I always though that was weird but??

@andriaperry Well the one we saw this morning was the first purpose built one we had seen, so I can understand why people would use what came to hand. Often when your pet gets old and can't walk far, it is nice still to be able to take them outside for a bit of fresh air and something like this makes that possible.

I wonder if Bosun will ride in his chair? Well one time at a flea market, I bought a picture of a cat, with his eye kind of magnified through a shot glass. I could just tell it was a picture that was worth money although I bought it for a pittance. I looked up the photo online and it is a fairly famous photo that was going for about 40 bucks on ebay. I like the pic though..I haven't had the desire to sell it..

@snowy22315 It feels great when you buy something because you like it and you later find out that you have a good eye and that it is worth something.

You got a bargain there and it will definitely help those sick animals. The most ridiculous thing I ever bought was a violin on a whim. I think I was suffering from heat stroke at the time as my brain was boiled!

I do not remember buying anything weird at a flea market. The push cart looks like a baby buggy.

@Hannihar You are right it does look very much like a baby buggy but it has a few things extra designed to hold the dog secured inside

@Hannihar we gave the buggy away to the lady that ran the dog rescue, our dog is young and fit so he doesn't really need it. We don't dress him up he is too cute as he is

@maggs224 That is so cool that the dog is secure in that thing. Do you put cloths on the dog and wheel him or her around in it?

That is a very pretty and sturdy pusher. A bargain there at only 10 Euro . (I often brought home pretty plants which I can't care for! )
