It Just Keeps Getting Worse in Houston

Those poor folks. Thankfully and thanks to so many first-responders and regular people helping out, the deaths have been few so far. This storm turned out to be far worse than anyone predicted or could have guessed. I have a couple of friends there so far safe and sound. Mother Nature can be powerfully treacherous. The floodwaters have reached roof lines with more rain to come. From far away, I can only pray and watch with dismay. I do hope you all here at myLot are not in Harvey's path.
The Hollies - He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother Lyric Video (with lyrics on screen and in description below). I dedicate this video to my six wonderful brothers...

This was a terrible storm and as you say it is not over yet and might take many years to fix the damage. On the radio here, they were talking about sending wood to rebuild as soon at they get the word that they are able to receive it. I'm sure our prayers and concern are appreciated.

It will take a long time to rebuild. Houston is such a big city, it's just hard to imagine.

@suziecat7 How big is the city? What is the population? Is that where they have a space station?

It is very sad. My brother and his family has had around 30 inches of rain so far and it is still coming down.

@suziecat7 I sure hope so. I know that they are still at their pace and the water is rising. They could be on their way out by now.

This is an awful disaster. Hopefully they can find a way to get people the help they need.

Many are working on it. When it comes to disasters, people are giving and kind.

Yes, it's a real mess and no sign of better times yet. A neighbor's brother lives there and was supposed to be here visiting, but had to cancel and try to save his house.

I hope he was able to save his house. Many homes are lost causes now.

I wonder why we call those events "acts of God", poor people, some of them have lost everything, some have lost their lives. It is horrible.

I've been following it on the news. Now the huge cleanup and rebuilding begins. Awful! Glad your friends are safe and sound.
