So went to get online for the meeting with her school, got her computer out about an hour early. Plugged it in, let it sit for a bit as I know the laptop was dead. Turned it on, there was a page up from her place where she plays learning games. I closed that out and thought I'd restart to make sure it cleaned itself with the program they have on it. So I shut it down, restarted it up it came .. straight to a page that states windows encountered a problem that something was missing, insert windows disk or contact the administrator. Well we don't get the disks. So I call them and I haven't gotten a call back. Her school starts Wed. they best call tomorrow. This is the stress I don't need! UGH!!

If need be, you can force the computer to load in recovery mode by holding down the shift key and restarting it. Once you're in that you should have a few options of how you'd like to proceed, including restoring Windows to a previous state or fixing the installation from the device's recovery partition. I'd start with trying to repair the Windows installation, then if that doesn't work try taking it back to the last saved version before it updated. If the shift-restart trick doesn't work, sometimes you can get it into recovery mode by restarting several times in a row. Otherwise, if you have a disc for that particular version of Windows, it should work to at least get the computer to boot properly. You don't need to have the disc that's tied to that particular computer as long as you have it installed--Windows just fixes itself as needed.

I tried the repairing and it wont, I also tired recovery by restarting it over and over. We don't have the disk as it is a school computer. Drives me nuts and I'm afraid of playing to much. I fix our own all the time. The one I'm using now is over 10 years old and works good still and when it don't I can fix it. Just afraid of what will happen if their tech finds out I did to much! lol
