I am pretty sure that we all go to do some form of shopping be it at the market or even the mall. Do you do calculations when shopping with your mind? I try to do an estimation but there is a tendency to check with my phone nowadays. Photo Credits: pexels.com

I used to, but not anymore. I only keep in mind my limits and that's it.

As long as you have an estimated, amount, you should be spending within limits then.

Yes, it is definitely not good for our budget too. Sometimes, we may overspend for the month if we are not careful.

My husband can calculate almost to the penny. I am more likely to just estimate.

He must be good with numbers. Sometimes, doing it more means it become sort of an automated thing.

@holdoors I don't have a smart phone, so checking prices happens while reading the newspaper or at the store.

I see. What I meant was to do some calculation on discounts and stuff while shopping. Do you do that mentally or rely on devices?

@holdoors I do that mentally, but see others using a device, all the time.

I always write a shopping list with the estimated price for each item I need and carry just enough cash to prevent myself from over spending.

That is good. Preparation is key so that you do not overspend indeed.

Yes, especially when I do my grocery. I do mental calculation as I put stuff in my cart and I usually know roughly how much my total would be even before the cashier rings it up...
