Can You Believe I Forgot All About MyLot?

I can hardly believe it myself. Since my car accident in the middle of June I've had so many distractions I've not had as much time to spend online. I wasn't hurt beyond whiplash in the accident, but I did have to do a lot of insurance stuff and medical exams. I want to make sure my neck surgery is still OK. Good thing I opted to have it or I'd probably be paralyzed by the new injury.
I also had to go car shopping when the insurance company told me that my car, which I was able to keep driving, was totaled. I couldn't open the tailgate in the back and the back bumper was askew, but nothing else was wrong. Car shopping took time.
There have been lots of medical appointments, physical therapy, etc. Hubby is having oral surgery in a couple of weeks and I'll be driving him both ways and playing nurse.
Our temperatures have been in the triple digits for too many days, and too many Smart Days have limited my computer time to before 2 PM and after 7 PM on those days. We've had four of them this week, including today. Our air conditioning is broken and three visits from a repairman have yielded only temporary results. Today it stopped working again within ten minutes after he left.
Then there are my continuing decluttering projects, accelerating since I expect company from out of town later this month.
Then there was keeping current on all developments with Hurricane Harvey. I have four cousins in Texas, one of which lives in Dickinson, and two others in the Houston area. I had friends in Rockport. I was looking up city names on Google Maps to see how affected my family and friends might be. Fortunately, they are all OK. Even my Rockport friends still have a house.
In the midst of trying to keep up with all the other stuff and still post to a blog now and then, I totally forgot about MyLot. I can't believe that happened. I will still not be here too often because of limited computer time until it cools off and I get more done around the house and I don't have so many medical appointments. Real life off line just never stops.
How have the rest of you been?

Sometimes life gets too complicated to just be everywhere online and you really do have to deal with the problems close at hand. I don't think I knew you were in an accident and had your car totalled. Sometimes you've just got to get on with life offline. I have been aware bit myself partly due to again to neck and arm problems and also I went to Wales on holiday. I think this place is a bit like when you meet friends in real life.Sometimes you meet them alot sometimes you meet them a little, but when you catch up it's always good.

That's a great way to look at it. I follow a bit of what you've been up to on FB, but haven't been making too many comments there -- just skimming for news. You're right about life getting complicated. I'm supposed to be retired, but I sure don't feel retired.

Scary, isn't it? Suddenly one of us could just disappear and the rest of us would never know why. My husband has no idea how to let people on my sites know if anything happens to me. What's really strange is that I've had so many things that don't relate to my blog topics I've wanted to share and couldn't think of the right place to share them. MyLot would have been perfect. I just forgot about it. Too many senior moments there.

Life is always way more important than often silly being online. Things happen demanding your attention and had to be dealt with.

Wondered where you were... How is your neck feeling now?
The temperature here in St Catharines has taken a nasty change with September, and we don't need air conditioners now. It's downright chilly!

@bagarad Yes, fans don't actually cool a room, just whatever they're pointed at.

It's almost 1 AM here. The air conditioner is still not fixed after four attempts. The indoor temperature is now down to 87F from 90F earlier. Outside the high was 110F. The windows are open but there is no breeze to bring the slightly cooler air in. I'm thankful for the fans we bought earlier when the air conditioning went out the first time in June. They help a little when they blow directly on us.

Sounds like you've had a busy and eventful summer. I'm glad to hear that you're alright. I've been pretty good. My eldest started kindergarten yesterday. My other two will be started a new daycare on Tuesday. So, a few exciting things here.

Good to hear you're okay. I haven't been on myLot much either but I did notice your lack of activity.
We had no landline or home internet for 10 days after a cable got damaged by workers installing fibre internet in our area, so I've hardly been online lately either. I'm so behind with everything I don't know how I'll ever catch up.

@bagarad My problem is that I lot of the time I prioritise socialising online to concentrating on the things that really matter. And those 10 days didn't really help with that because I spent most of my time sitting at home waiting for repairmen who never came, so I was afraid to get my hands dirty (working on bonsai) in case they turned up at the wrong moment.

@bagarad Sometimes, I take a break from the Internet. Other things take first priority, so I leave My Lot and all other online sites. Thank God, you weren't hurt worse, or killed!

I'm very thankful I was able to drive away and continue on to Bible Study. It was a four-car accident, and I was at the front of the line and only rear-ended. The two cars behind me weren't as fortunate, and one person had to take an ambulance ride. The car bringing up the rear only had his front end banged up. I can tell you that I am now more careful than ever before to leave lots of room between me and the car in front of me. I barely missed being pushed into the car in front of me -- by inches -- as I swerved to the right shoulder. I really think an angel must have given the car in front of my a little push.

@bagarad Yes, God protects his children in many ways we don't fully understand! His hand was definitely there, to keep you safe from any harm:)

You are right to forget about mylot because sometimes things are more important than each other especially health matters. According to the way you narrated your story there wasn't anyway you could have manage to post on mylot. so you are right to forget abut us.

It's one thing just to not have time to post. It's quite another to actually forget completely about a site. I only remembered when I saw another friend post a myLot link on Facebook. It just isn't like me to forget something like this. I'm glad I was reminded and I'm happy to be back.

It's nice to have one place we can still come back to and meet our friends from other sites after those sites have closed -- a place that just lets us talk to each other without word requirements and photos, etc.
