Loaning Money To Family Vs. Working For Money

I am sure everyone has that family member that is always borrowing money or either one that asks for work so they will have extra money for food or heat.
This past week someone asked for money and said they would pay it back on September first, well I am sure you know how that went. I have not heard another word from that one!
And I had a family member ask me for work this month, its not much money but I still said I would have to wait till I get all my pay before I could say yes.
I usually do not loan any money because I have so much I have to pay out running the business and I wont be loaning anymore, since that one had not made an effort to even call.
Sometimes life is disappointing. Live and learn.

I don't loan money but I have given money many times.
Money is the root of all evil, that's for sure. If I could live without it I would have nothing to do with it.
If I can pay the bills and someone needs something, they will have it.

@andriaperry Lending to family, means they will sooner or later, be back for another loan and another.

@LovingMyBabies Yes, we give money, as the Lord leads us to reach out to someone. But we never loan any more:(

I lend money only for good reasons and to people I care a lot about.

@andriaperry So it depends on the situation. I just wrote a post about Carolina not being able to get her savings out of the Bank before she leaves. I hurried to send her mother as much as I could spare.

Not everyone - I've never had a family member ask for money. If they did they would be told no. Neither a lender nor a borrower be.

I never loan money because most times you never get it back and it makes for hard feelings. I would rather just avoid of all of that.

Sorry to hear you did not get your money back as promised. I don't like loaning money for this same reason as well. Have you touched based with the person yet?

When it comes to loaning money especially to family member I know that mostly family members think that it doesn't really have to be paid back. A long time ago when I lived in the states I knew a family who had a store. Whenever any family members asked for money they gave them tasks to do in the store to earn the money they needed.

I've lent money to my children with no expectation of getting it back. Rarely do I consider lending money as it's the best way to create problems for both the borrower and the lender

When I was working I have relatives who always borrow money from me but forget to pay. I'm really disappointed

I actually have a brother who did some "taking " of money from me without my knowing it. He's never once offered to pay me for all of the work I do on the family cabin we co-own, but he's quick to demand money when taxes are due. It's caused me to question human nature.

I have been questioning human nature for year, I often ask" how can people sleep at night when they do so much wrong, especially to family."

@andriaperry Yes, every family has at least one, who goes around borrowing money. What's most upsetting about this, in our family the culprit has a job and spends his paychecks on whatever! Then, when bills come due, he scrounges and cries because his phone is getting disconnected! We lend nothing to this man:(

@andriaperry After my brother uses one source of money, he moves on to another source. Yet, he owns two fancy Harley Davidson motor cycles! His priorities are S-E-L-F, and nothing interferes with that

When we tell someone NO; we won't loan them money, we teach them not to ask for money. It's important that we set our boundary so we won't allow ourselves to be used or taken advantage of. That being said, we probably shouldn't borrow from others, either.
