I'm in shock

I try to walk the line when it comes to eating better. I am for sure not perfect and don't intend to be. We went over to our local butcher yesterday. They make old country sausages. We wanted to indulge on Monday cause of Labor Day. When we got there I spotted something and now I'm in a stew. I knew that the son had moved. He's bought a butcher shop in Oregon. I knew that he and his Dad had had a final blow out. That kicked me in the gut. I like Billy. He is a decent human being. I miss Billy's huge grin and ready laugh. So we got to the butcher shop. And there were for sale signs. The Dad is not in the best of health. He had heart surgery just months ago. He can be mean mouthed and just down right nasty. Not good for customers to be around. Just about 450 thousand dollars will buy a person a lovely house and just over 6 and a half acres, a butcher shop business, a green house, equipment, a chicken house. A lot of money and yet incredibly cheap. The whole thing makes me sad. Its like a dear friend has cancer. America is strongest when family businesses thrive. This family is split asunder. I have much to think about as I head into another Saturday.

Family business is a dying art that's for sure. I wish we had a butcher shop anywhere around here!

@AbbyGreenhill The only time we go to the butcher shop now is when we must have sausages for special days. I'd best go back and get some of their beef franks for Halloween- maybe the place will be changed or closed up by then. Their beef franks have something- juice or something a tad salty put in cause they are not at all like what I can find at a regular grocery store. Just addictive.

@sallypup I don't eat hot dogs, but my husband is a Thumann's hot dog lover and I have to order them, no one in the south sells them.

@AbbyGreenhill The butcher franks are not really hot dogs. They're like a sausage but not a sausage! Strong beefy flavor.

That is very sad. What a shame for the father and son, too.

Sad to see a family business come to an end over a fallout but it happens. There has been a few businesses around town that closed or been sold recently because nobody in the family wanted to take over. Sad when that happens after being around for many years.

@Happy2BeMe I talked with Billy the butcher's son at least once about his deep dislike for his own Dad. Hard to hear that he hated the guy but it sure sounded like he did. Something really was not well in the family.

oh sorry for that, but the only way you can assist is to remember his problem when praying, in kind and with cash if you can afford or the amount yo can afford.
