Our 7 year old grandson loves to wear his hair long. He thinks he looks cool and just like his favorite sports heroes. He spent his summer at day camp and wanted to try an overnight camp in Vermont for one week. He loved it, especially building and flying drones and other scientific projects. He also loved the sports and new friends he made. He will be attending that camp for the entire summer next year. When he returned to his home in Manhattan, he also returned to his day camp, then a special ice hockey and goalie training camp for two weeks. He caught the attention of several coaches, who watched him closely, daily. As a result, they liked what they saw. He was invited into a higher level and quite prestigious ice hockey league which will have him traveling around a few states, even ours! He is so excited and thanks his long hair for that. LOL!

The couple who lives in the home in front of us has 5 children. When they came to live here I thought they were all girls, until the father decided that the boys had to cut their hair. I am glad I said nothing.

@DianneN The younger kid looked very nice with long hair, but he really looked like a pretty girl. They had the hair cut soon after the school started, I think it was a request from the school.

@amadeo Roger used to have long hair. I don't know if he does anymore. Yes, his other Grandfather had corporate seats for his law firm and was able to give them away if no clients were in town. Besides, my son and his wife are huge sports fans.

Yay for him. Glad he enjoyed the camp! Personally, I don't like long hair on males. But my little cousin has long hair too.

@Courtlynn What a coincidence! Imagine that! My grandson goes to a private school for the gifted in Manhattan. The kids are allowed to show individual creativity in personal style.

Don't faint, but my granddaughter decided she wanted to go to overnight camp when she was six. She went to Maine without knowing a soul a couple of weeks after she turned 7. Recently finished her third year and loves it. Yes, my son told me what the coaches told him. Hopefully, my grandson lives up to their expectations! Thank you!

@DianneN it is a mix in the genes of both of them, plus the love they give the kids. They encourage them to do what they love and in doing so they are good at it. Looks like both of them are good on the ice.

@DianneN Me too. I took my granddaughter ice skating once and I froze the whole time. She loved it. At first she fell a lot, but then she got rather good at it. I was bundled up like a person from Alaska and everyone was laughing at how cold I was there.

I have always liked long hair as long as it is kept clean and neat. I think hair is a good reflection of a persons personality and confidence. That applies to short or long hair.
