There Is A Killer In My Home

Last night when I was sleeping a killer crept into my home. I also had three unwanted visitors that came in the middle of the night. When I awoke this morning I found the killer had murdered the unwanted visitors. I had a mess to clean up today.
I then embraced my killer and invited him to breakfast. My killer was so happy he jumped on me and licked my face.
So I say to you, my unwanted visitors that invade my home in the middle of the night this is your fair warning. If you decide to visit again in the middle of the night a killer will be roaming around in my home. He doesn’t take kindly to you visiting without permission.
Dakota is my killer that roams my home at night. He hates to see small mice and rats roaming around. He protects his food and the unwanted guest is dealt with in a quick and painless manner. However, in the morning it is me who has to clean up the mess.
In bad weather and living by a river at times we have mice and rats that enter our home. Dakota has always been a protector of the house and he stalks and kills these rodents that decide to visit.

I think that the best thing you can do for your killer is to give him a special treat.

That is what is nice about having a cat. They are natural rat and rodent killers.

@celticeagle Looks that way. His chasing days are over and now all he wants to do is lay around and enjoy life.

Our cat couldn't cope with a rat once. That rat was of the same size to our cat. The cat was smart enough to run for her life. (We lost chicken egg every day due to that rat, and couldn't do a thing about it!)

@YrNemo The only thing I find that works on them is that sticky paper. You put this out and a piece of bread with peanut butter on it and they all come running. One time we had 8 of them all stuck to the paper at the same time. They aren't so smart when it comes to peanut butter.
I did build a mouse trap once. I took a bucket and drilled holes on each side in the middle. I added a reed bar and a can. On the can I made sure it spun. I applied peanut butter to the can. I filled the bucket with water. I sat this in the middle of the floor. At night the mice climbed up the small wooden plank we put there and got on the can. The can then rolled and the mice fell in the water. They drowned. In the morning we dumped them in the river.
Now with the little dogs in the house I can't do this anymore. So it is up to them to trap the mice and get rid of them. Dakota is good at this and he is the killer in this house.

@poehere I know that fine, re: put cheese in the traps, and the mice came in and out like go getting free cheese from a market. We tried the fancy ones too, which the moment the mice got in, the trap shut, but another mouse promptly balanced the trap at the other end, hence, the trap opened again... Those mice were so intelligent it is shocking.

I had a dog like that once and I miss her for that. Nothing moved in the backyard that she didn't chase and kill if she caught it. I suspect she fed on some of them as well. Bees, birds, squirrels, mice had no safe haven in the yard or porch.

This is my killer. I guess if you are only at the cabin for a few days you could live with them. But I couldn't.

Dakota! Wow! the name is also creepy. What a killer. But if Dakota kills for food and to protect your house, that is a good deed. You are lucky. :)
