Late yesterday afternoon a couple of friends and I decided to go paint. My friend Naomi had been there before, and really enjoyed it. So did I! I think we were there 3 1/2 hours. They chose bowls to paint, but I chose an octopus. You select from a wide variety of pottery, then choose from hundreds of paints with various sheens (they have pictures of what the color looks like with one coat, two coats, and three coats). There are a variety of brushes and techniques to choose from, and when you are done they take it out in a kiln, and a week later you come to pick it up. The paints you see here are the first four I chose with none of these colors being what they will actually look like once they've been in the kiln. For instance, the brown paint you see, when dry, will be white. The place is called Wild at Art, and you can also do glass. I hadn't enjoyed myself like this in a long time. Poor Naomi, who is a nurse, finally had two days off, and she couldn't get her allergies under control. I'm glad she went anyway. When is the last time you had fun with a couple of friends? I imagine it's hard for parents to find the time.
