So, as I mentioned, my long term housemate well actually he was a tenant, moved out with no notice. I could have killed him..it was not fair at all, but anyway, so I have posted ads and am looking again. I did get two contacts this morning but as usual.no follow up..I remember this happening a bit before, people who don't really know where this area is..think they want to live here, when it is not practical at all. I remember one time someone called who was working in MD...not close to here at all! At the same time, I don't really want to add a map online..because I don't want just anyone to know how to get to my house..Not a safe idea if you ask me.. One person called from a local area code..but hasn't followed up. Sigh! I just want a short term renter to help defray expenses..and add a bit of extra income. before I put the house on the market. Have you ever rented a room, if so, where did you advertise?

I haven't ever rented a room but you're wise to be careful who you choose to be a roommate

Well, yes, of course! Preferably someone who pays, and isn't a serial killer or rapist.

@Courtlynn I hear ya..but most people are decent..when you are older you develop more of a sense of people. Also, I am more inclined to rent to a female this time around if possible.

I haven't had to do that, but it sounds like a pain.

Yeah, actually someone called this morning who sounded nice, and wanted to look at the room..but not sure the commute would work..not into bringing "tourists" in.

When he knew he was leaving he should have paid for a full month, and then left..that is not how it happened..He made me quite angry..

I have never rented to anyone. To me it's better to simply bite the bullet and make due with what I have, roomies aren't always trustworthy.

The one I had before wasn't that bad..Not ideal, but the extra cash helped out tremendously.

We did owned a house that we rented before. We did not live there. It was becoming too much trouble , so we sold it.

Yeah, it would be nice to live somewhere else and rent this in the summer but not in the cards now.

No I have not, I am not so sure I could stand someone else living here, its hard enough with Tony and he is kin folks and I have known him forever, he does pay me so I know what you mean about making it a little easier.

Yeah, actually it makes it a lot easier..and this being in the wilds so to speak..it is nice to have someone to talk to on a regular basis. He was really good mechanically too, and I am not so it was helpful from that perspective.
