Hello, This is my 1st post here. I was wondering if their are any Sparks fans here? There was an interview in this month's Mojo Mag here in the UK and I couldn't stop laughing at the song titles and subjects. There was one track off their new album called scandinavian Design about a women who loves Ikea more than her boyfriend and I thought that was hilarious. Then an Ikea catalogue came through my front door, I kid you not! I started watching their videos at youtube. I think Ron Mael is quite a guy - love his sense of humour. I only wish I had know about them (asides from stop the clock, this town ain't etc) before now. I feel like I have missed out. Anyone recommend any albums I should start with?

I have not heard Sparks since I was a young woman years ago. We are talking about 40 yrs ago. But I do know them. Are they still going? Wow I am amazed! If so that is incredible!

Yes there was several pages on them in Mojo. They have a new album out and are playing a town by me. I checked out hotel prices but its too late to book - basically the prices are double what they would be if I booked several months in advance. I don't drive, so I have to stay over to see bands, but I think seeing them would be rather entertaining.

@TiarasOceanView and Ron just turned 72 years old and well, last year musician dropped like flies. Already this year we've lost Chris Cornell and I loved Soundgarden. Grew up on his records. I think with any bands/musicians we like we best see them fast before they pass on.

I knew they did exist have done but decades but I didn't really take an interest until that mojo interview when I couldn't stop laughing at the song titles.

Don't know much about the subject here but sounds as if the brothers are quite entertaining. Sounds as if there is some brotherly love taking place. Comedy is needed. Laughter is certainly welcomed.

I'd recommend Sparks In Outer Space, which featured their hit "Cool Places" (with Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Gos) and one I've always liked if for no other reason than the title -- Angst In My Pants.

Cool, thanks for that. I know on the cover on Angst in my pants they are dressed as bride and groom marrying each other. :-D

What everyone else has already recommended. A very underrated band.

@SerenityEngel - Kimono My House was a good album too. They definitely have a sense of humor.

Angst in my pants has been mentioned. I wondering about propaganda. I found the title of their 1st album A woofer in Tweeters clothing amusing. Clearly is a band with a very off beat sense of humour.

I most definitely have "Angst in My Pants" with my "Funny Face" giving "Tips for Teens" while "Pretending to be Drunk" in "Sextown USA." Those are some of their hits from the glory years of the 80s.
