Home-based vs. regular job?

Hi everyone. Due to the advent of technology and the rise of the Internet, the number of home-based job opportunities are now increasing rapidly. While a home-based job provides flexibility and convenience, it also has also some disadvantages over a regular job. First, most of these jobs do not offer leaves, insurance, pension, and other benefits. Also, I feel like these homebased jobs are relatively insecure as compared to regular jobs. Anyone here who can share their views and experiences? Thanks!

There are pros and cons for both types of jobs. I guess we have to make sure that there is sort of a stable income source before committing though.

Do you mean other source of income aside from the home-based job?

@holdoors yes i definitely agree with you. however, we have limited time and sadly, most of the time, time constraint does not allow us to do multiple jobs. As such we need to choose between these jobs.

@maximaoliveros I guess we need to have multiple backup options if we are having home-based jobs. It usually depends on the organization you are working for though. If it is reputable and is performing well, you do not need to worry.

Both regular and home-based jobs have their pros and cons. I have a regular job and a home-based job that serves as my side hustle. I do the home-based one in my free time but I still keep my regular job.

Homebased-jobs are great for moms though I'm not a mom I now prefer working online after almost 20 years working offline because of health issues. But for newly grads it is still best to experience working offline of course.

Like what others have mentioned, both types of job have its own pros and cons. In my opinion, what really matters is the job security that each platform can offer. Obviously a normal job would always have the edge in terms of job security. However, like what you have mentioned earlier about the advent of technology, more and more earning opportunities are available online. The best course of action is to test the waters, make sure also to have a contingent or backup plan. In fact you could diversify your sources of income like having a part-time job or a small business along with your online job.
