Stuck in a Music Rut

I tend to listen to the same music or at least the same type of music all the time. I'm stuck in a classic rock and roll rut. Okay, nothing wrong with that - it pleases my soul and it is great music. Once in awhile I meander to some old Motown stuff and the blues but little else.
I work with young people and thought it might be a good idea if I explored a little bit into their musical territory. I kept imaging head-banging gouge your eyes out music or else hip-hop. What I discovered instead surprised me. There is some young talent out there after all.
My favorite find is a young man named Jonny Lang. He's in his 30's now so not so young but he is fantastic. You probably all heard of him before but I hadn't. The song "Lie to Me" was first recorded in 1997 when he was indeed a very young 16 year old. Good stuff.
Do you ever listen to new music or are you stuck in a rut like me?

Nope never heard of him. I mostly listen to the 90s, early 2000s and country.

He is talented and at such a young age to have all that soul.

It's a matter of taste so maybe "rut" isn't the right word.

We're definitely stuck in a rut. They sometimes have a radio station playing in our supermarket and the staff might be humming along with a song I've never heard before. I don't know why this should surprise me but it does.
