Most of the cars run either on petrol, diesel or Compressed Natural Gas. Vehicles which run on Petrol and diesel cause air pollution. There is need to reduce the pollution, therefore, there is talk of finding alternative fuels which could be used to run the cars (e.g. electric cars). What are you views on it? Would you like to buy a car which runs on alternative fuels and does not cause much pollution? Or if you have been using a car run on alternative fuel, what are your experiences in this regard?

Oh! You want to own a truck which could outrun zombies. Are you finding too many zombies on your roads or in nearby areas?

@TiarasOceanView Ask them to at least come on motorable roads so that you could use the trucks to hit them.

For the moment the alternative cars are expensive and it's hard to find how to fill up or recharge your car. The electric cars need many lithium batteries to go and this is also highly polluting. It does not pollute the air, but the wastes pollute the landfill and the waters... is this really an intelligent alternative?

May be alternative cars are expensive and it may not be very convenient to recharge these kinds of cars. I understand that therefore, you would not like to go for these kind of cars. Is not it?
You see no fuel could be without its side affects and electric car or its batteries may be hazardous but at least it does not make the air polluted.

@dpk262006 Do your prefer to have drinking water polluted and the vegetable and fruits you eat, to have cleaner air? It's a choice. I think the government should find a way to impose to use less the private cars.

@LadyDuck Yes, you have a point. Government should also think of reducing the number of private cars to limit the air pollution levels. I have heard that in Singapore there are very strict parameters for owning a car and many people use public transport to commute rather than owning a car.

Yeah, if those kinds of cars become popular I think number of petrol and diesel car will reduce. Yes, outdated buses and trucks should be done with away with.

Electric cars have long been introduced, and the latest is the solar car, both run from a stored energy in a battery bank. With some improvements, I just don't know why the selling price of these cars are so high, that only rich people can afford it. I help the environment but it is more of the money they can rake from it.

It is interesting to hear that cars which could run with stored solar energy have been introduced. I agree with you that normally these cars are costly and an ordinary man may not be able to afford it. May be their production is not in large number due to which cost of these kinds of cars is high.

@moneychaser May be due to less demand the cost of production is high.

@dpk262006 I believe that the cost of building these nature-friendly cars
are not that high. They say that they are helping this world against global warming but the money speaks louder in their souls rather than the help that they could share to others.

I welcome the idea of alternative fuel. But not other cars rather than the petrol or diesel is popular in world. There is much hype of electric cars. In electric car there used the battery for charging. After 5 or six years it must be useless and it makes serious ecco problem.

You see every alternative fuel will come with its side affects. It is for us to decide whether we want to adopt it or not.

@dpk262006 yep, it sorts out the power issue of electricity. When you start the car at first, there is no engine sound out cause using the electric power. Then when you try to speed up, then the petrol power starts to work. I think it is a great mix.

It seems that today the electricity cars are available. However, they are expensive. The main problem is it will spend longer time charging it. They can't drive for a very long distance as well as the petrol cars. And you can't find many places to charge it and this is why these cars are not popular yet.

Yes, you are right that there might be some problems and hiccups in running the cars driven by electricity. The limitation in the electric cars are required to be removed so that larger number of people could use it.

I don't think I would at the moment. Chevrolet has released an electric car in South Korea and a friend of mine bought one because the government subsidized 40% of the cost.

You won't like to buy a car which runs on an alternative fuel as of now but you may consider buying it later??
It is interesting to hear that Chevrolet has introduced a new electric car in South Korea and the Government was giving a subsidy of 40% on it. I suppose the South Korean Government wants to encourage use of alternative fuel.

@dpk262006 Yes they do.
First of all there's not a lot of choices when it comes to alternative cars. Plus, I need the fuel to be readily available everywhere before I get one. If I get myself an electric car here, where will I charge it?

@toniganzon I agree with your view point that fuel for the car should be readily available, therefore, you would go for such a car.
I think charging an electric car should not be a problem, it could be charge during night at home and when you are in office and working, it could be charged there. Only problem is if you have run a car for longer duration, then charging may be an issue.

Yes, electric cars have some drawbacks and these are not perfect in every situation. I do not think there are electric cars available in your city.

@SIMPLYD It is good to hear that there are e-cars which run in Manila. It means e-vehicles are making inroads in your country.

@dpk262006 There are electronic cars being suggested to replace jeepneys and some are already being used just around Manila.
Even here in the province we already have the e-trikes. We also have the e-jeeps that transport for free, shoppers from the city to the mall that we manage.

I think use of alternative fuel in vehicles will depend upon its availability and demand. If the demand goes up the cost of fuel may to down. Does electric run in your city?

I agree with you but in the long run we need to go for alternative fuel, when the stocks of petrol and diesel will deplete and ultimately vanish one day.

Here many of the new cars coming in are electric. My friend owns one and it is fantastic. I can't believe how quiet this car is. After riding in his a few times I want one. Not sure if I will buy one or not because I couldn't recharge the batter where I live.

It is interesting to hear that you have actually enjoyed a ride on an electric car owned by your friend. I can understand your point that as you do not have recharging facility, you would not like to own such a car.

I think electric cars have
a long way to go before they can be
considered a replacement.
We had a trial of an electric van a few
years ago at work. The range wasn't good
enough and the recharge took too long.
We also wondered why the two people
working next to where it was charging
in the warehouse felt nauseous every
day while it was charging.
A friend has converted his diesel van
to run on used cooking oil. It works well
but it stinks like a fryer that hasn't had
the oil changed for months!!

You intend to say that electric cars are not as successful as petrol and diesel run cars. May be you are right. Electric cars manufacturers need to improve their methods so as to make these cars user friendly and fuel efficient.

If the car is not making any pollution then it is fine, but the only car which runs through electricity only can possible as like electric train but it is very difficult to run on the roads coz special lines should be provided as the railways provides track should be provided etc., I don't have any experience with such cars but I just predict all these

I can understand that there may be some negative points in electric cars also, but in the long run when stocks of petrol and diesel will deplete or ultimately vanish, then we will need an alternative fuel to run the vehicles.

Good for the environment. For air pollution. I support this. Although I personally prefer cars that go on petrol.
