Hundreds of equipment headed to Florida

As we are in a car trying to escape Hurricane Irma, more than 200 power equipment trucks are headed the opposite direction to the hurricane area.
There are power and light trucks along with every emergency company you can think of. This is very scary.

Hi Nancy. I'm in Melbourne too. We stayed (i didn't want to) but we're not in an evacuation zone, and live in a three story house. Hubby insists it will stand up, though probably get damaged. I hope you are able to get where you're going. I hear the roads out are horrible. Where about are you in Melbourne? I'm near Aurora.

@ramapo17 Not sure about your area, but you might want to check with FPL to see if you have power. I lucked out, but friends over by Walmart at Post & Wickham area where told they may be out for weeks.

This is very scary. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. We have had to evacuate from wildfire, and it is never easy. It's a terrible worry. I hope you and your home, friends, and family, will all be all right. I am glad you are getting out.

I can't imagine going through a hurricane. It makes me sad seeing the pictures of the aftermath and seeing the pics of people and pets that are stranded. Our hearts are with you Florida

Preparing for something destructive is always scary.
Have you reached New Jersey already?

It would be more scary if none of those trucks were heading there...they are the only way FL will gt fixed.

You know it's going to be bad when New Jersey activates its National Guard units to send to Florida to help out! New York is talking about doing the same thing!

You should be ok in New Jersey. Looks like the gulf side is really going to be hammered! Hope my Dad's condo in Ft. Myers makes it through ok.

@ramapo17 We just checked on my Dad's condo in Fort Myers to see if it was damaged. The condo was inland enough and escaped any damage. It is a mess down there no electricity, flooded streets and you cannot get into your home. I hope things wind up ok for you, Nancy!
