Now That Was A Pompous Jerk

Believe it not I actually meet a pompous jerk today. I had an appointment with him this morning to discuss some work her wanted done in his office. He has several computers that have various problems and he was dropping off his laptop for me. He showed up on time, but what happened after was not work. He immediately started in on me about the Tahitian people that lived here on the islands. He had nothing nice to say. In my books he was a total racist. You could smell the alcohol on him at 10 in the morning and he was carrying a beer with him. He then started to criticize me because I am half French, half American. He thought he was superior to all races because he was born in Portugal. He then boasted to me about how his family migrated to France and that is where he grew up. He said that he hates Tahiti and all the people here. He is returning home. I told him nobody in France wants him. He said that Portugal is better than here and it is more beautiful. I told him get out of my home and get off my island. Get out of France and go back to Portugal. My brother in law heard him calling me a couple of choice names and came running across the bridge to my home. He busted through the gate and grabbed this guy. I had to stop him from punching him in the face. He basically picked him up and dragged him out of my house and threw him on the road. What a great way to start your day. How many pompous jerks have you meet in your life and what did you do?

What a jerk! I don't know how people can talk like that - especially in a first meeting that was business. How insulting . . . and he probably didn't even realize how ignorant he sounded. Well I'm glad you and your brother in law booted him out - he deserved that!!

This wasn't actually our first meeting. He was a client of mine, I worked for in the past. I guess he just felt he could talk to me like that. It is not a guy I just meet. I have never seen him talk like this before. But it was funny to see my brother in law hauling him, almost dragging him across my bridge.

@poehere I would have been completely shocked too. 2 years is a long time - what suddenly lit him on fire to make him blurt out such insults? Well, in the end, he burned himself . . . with that kind of attitude, he sure won't get far.

@much2say Me too. I have worked on and off in this guy's office for the past 2 years. He has always been professional and never said anything that you would have considered an advance or otherwise. A little shocked at his attitude when he showed up.

it makes me wonder what kind of a boss he is, what kind of a driver he is, what kind of a customer he is, when he's out and about, and how this behavior/attitude is perceived by his wife and children, if he has a family.

Luck for us he's not married and has no kids. I have been working with him off an on for several months now. He was a good customer and in the office, he treats his employees fairly. I have no idea what set him off yesterday, bu I don't care and won't work with him again.

A real jerk and he deserved a good punch in the face. Portugal is a nice county, but you cannot compare France and Portugal, stupid guy.

@poehere People like that are stupid people. If they are unhappy, the only thing they have to do is to go back to their country.

Plus, you sure can't compare Tahiti and France or Portugal and Tahiti. I have no idea what set this guy off but her was really angry when he showed up here. I don't like people like this and I won't be working for him again.

@LadyDuck I couldn't agree with you more. What was funny is another person who knows this guy called me today. I guess he told her what happened. She was asking me about this and I told her what happened. She said that he has done this to her on more than one occasion and now she won't allow him in her home. If he calls she said she will talk on the phone and that is all.

Unfortunately, these nutjobs are everywhere. I hear about them on the news all the time as they're being hauled off to jail. It's a very sad world we live in. Glad your BIL came so quickly to your rescue. He should leave Tahiti. Btw, we don't want him either!

I don't blame you for that. He was going on and on about Portugal and all the land he has there and this and that. I could care less. If it was or is so wonderful there, why did he come here in the first place. I think he needs to go back there and laave us alone here on the islands.

Usually ignore them if I can. They may believe themselves to be superior, but usually I KNOW I am. I am sorry this happened. He sounds like a drunk and a loser.

It was a real treat this morning to be called all those names by this drunk. I can now sit here and laugh about it because the site of my brother in law dragging him across my bridge and throwing him in the road make it all worth it.

I have worked at his office several times. Never once did he act like this. I was so shocked when he showed up today and starting ragging and raving on about the people here and this and that. I couldn't believe I was hearing what I was hearing. In the end I think I had the last laugh as his drunken butt was thrown out on the road.

Thank God your brother-in-law was within hearing distance, from your home! The man definitely needed to be pitched out, in the street:(

I couldn't agree with you more. My BIL only lives on the other side of the river from me so it is not too far. You can easily hear a person raising their voice from their kitchen.

@kobesbuddy I was yelling at him to get out. That is when my BIL showed up and hauled him out. I don't take kindly to people doing this in my house.

@Hannihar So far so good. Yes it does put you in a rather bad mood for the day when a person attacks you like this. You just have to try and overlook this and move on. It is hard, but it can be done.

That's awful! I look at it this way... he is already a pitiful creature for getting thrown out of your office like that... he is in no way proving his "superiority" by being a jerk to that point, he is showing all of Tahiti and France that he is a loser. Have you lived in France? I want to go and have been planning a trip for next year as long as I manage to put the money aside

I lived in France until I was 13. My family stilled lived there for another 26 years after this. I went to Hawaii to learn English. Yes, this guy was a real jerk. What surprised me was I was working for him quite often in the past. Well, in the future I won't be working for him again. My brother in law was furious when he started to call me names. My BF is not here at the moment so it was BIL to the rescue.

@poehere yes that does sound very irritating... hopefully from this experience, the guy experienced enough humiliation that he will work on changing his ways.. it does not speak well to ones character to treat others as he did. Thank you for sharing this story! -Mr. Anomaly

@Mr_Anomaly One thing is for sure on this one he lost me as his computer tech. Others here will rip him off and charge so much more than I charged him. He messed up and even if he calls and tells me he is sorry I still won't work for him again.
