When you see a celebrity fundraising show on television, what do you think? There have been a lot but sometimes, you can question their motives. I used to think who do you think you are, why don't you donate your own money. You have more than the average watcher of the fundraiser. I believe that since they are actors and actresses, they are used to using emotions to pull on our purse strings.
The deciding factor for me if I hear that they have donated some of their own money, I will consider it more. Plus, I always seem to be judging motives but that just has to be my personal judgment because how am I going to know their true motives.
Another thing that I look at is what percentage actually goes to the charity and what is considered administrative costs. I believe you should be wise in what you donate to and do a little research first.

I always look at the charity they are promoting, and finding out what percentage of the money raised actually goes to helping people in need. Too many charities spend too much of the money raised on questionable "administrative" costs. In addition, I also look at the salary the CEO's or executive directors at the charity make. If they are making six figure salaries, I question how much of my money is going to charity work and how much is going to line the pockets of the CEO.

I know researching the charities is always a great idea. If I'm going to spend my hard earned money, I want to know that it is not going to waste.
