How to beautify a water tower

We saw some very interesting sights on our travellers through France recently. From time to time we’d see these immense concrete water-towers. You wouldn’t think there would be much you could do to ‘beautify’ such a tower but we were very impressed with this decoration. It must have been near Cherbourg but I’m not sure of the exact location.

We all know that French people are artists, the water towers are so ugly, this is a nice way to make look a lot better.

@singhisback Yes, the upper part looks like a UFO.

@JudyEv I think it's a great idea because they look depressing, especially when the sky is grey.

In Premnitz in Germany a lot of ugly cement utility buildings had been beautifully decorated.

It certainly brightens up plain cement utility buildings. Here's one from Premnitz in Germany.

Hello, @singhisback As you can see this is done in other countries as well. The photo was taken in Germany.

@JudyEv I love art on buildings and those above are lovely--- we get many in our quaint little northern towns in Ontario.

That looks very nice. Here in the US, sometimes people will paint things on a water tower,,,or customize them to match something their town is known for..it is pretty cute really.

The roundabouts in France are often decorated with something to do with the attractions in the area.

What a lovely idea. There are old water towers here that could really do with some decoration.

Wow, that is something - I've never seen such a shape for a water tower. Nice painting too. Here is one from a tiny little town near me. They are famous for their "tower" water tower. It's old - and historic - something to do with the way it was built. I'm not sure why my picture isn't uploading. Here's a link though :
