The same way we exhibit positive emotions like compassion, love, peace, kindness and the likes toward people, it the same way we have the negative emotions toward people also.
I know most times we deny these emotions like gossiping, envying, jealousy, backbiting, trying to bring down one another. Some people live above this but some people struggle with it.
How can one live above negative emotions towards others? Because if not controlled can lead to hurting the another person.

What are negative emotions? Are they good or bad for us?
How can we rise above them, and not let them ruin our lives?
Each type of emotion is a various energy bank containing in various degrees of energy density the degrees of love that are possible.
There is a scale of such energies with love, pure unadulterated love at the top, and a pure negative abysmality of depressive vindictiveness of emotion at the bottom (i.e an absenteeism of love.)
Pure love is outer and inner directed, but so are all of the other energies too. If one is outer and inner directed, all of the others are too.
The difference is in the way of that directional pushing and pulling of energy. When you allow energy to be, it be's itself, but when you let these negative thoughts twist and bend the energy in ways that are non-loving, then they injure both you and the person receiving them from you.
Only pure love hurts nobody.
Every lesser love or emotion always hurts somebody to some degree and so makes or incurs some karma from our living from that lesser level of love, in some lower emotion whatever we might label it to be.

@innertalks "Pure Love" is the obvious outcome when we adopt non-dualism. That highlights the unity of individual soul with the Supreme. Then there is no other, just one and pure love envelopes us.

@Shiva49 Yes, the Beatles were surely right about that.
All we need is love, and yet our experiences here do seem to require more than this at first glance. We need a body, a mind, food, clothes, other people, etc etc.
When we realise though that we are really the soul, not any of these outer garments or things, then we can live from this pure love, not afraid to do so, because we then will realise that all of these other things can take care of themselves.
There is this beautiful piece in the bible about not worrying too: Matthew chapter 6, verse 25 to 34.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

When I feel super down, I read an excerpt from the bible and pray. Since I'm not the type to ask for advice, this is what I do, and it has never failed to lift up my spirits.
