Hard to believe that such a romantic country like France will ban the goodbye kiss in railway stations. The reason is sometimes it will delay the train. So perhaps it sounds to be reasonable. I wonder will it be punished some money if people break it?

This is a very old law, there are many like this in France (as well as in many countries). Among the French laws that are still in place, but not enforced
- you cannot call a pig Napoleon
- the women cannot wear wear pants unless they ride a horse
- from 8 am to 8 pm the songs plaid by French radio MUST be at least 70% French songs.
There are others and even in the United States you can find old hilarious laws that have never been amended.

The first is not a law but a very old court decision and it would probably be different today.
For the pants, it was a law from the 18th C. It has been abolished only in 2013.
The song quota is not that old, it is a 40% quota of French songs since 1994, and is enforced today.

This old law does not ban kisses in railway stations but on the tracks. In the past there were some small stations were people had to cross the tracks to go to a train platform. Kissing on the tracks has been forbidden because it could be dangerous if another train was coming.

@youless Lol, the text says "to put a package with explosives on the tracks". I do not know if many people were travelling with explosives in the past. Since 1 or 2 years, due to the terrorist attacks we have had, they warn that we have to put our name and address on luggage and that any forgotten package/suitcase will be destroyed, like if a terrorist would put his own name and address on a suitcase full of explosives.

Oh. I guess that is because Goodbye kiss in French is not just a simple smack of kiss but a real French kiss? ... the reason why trains got delayed.

In my opinion, they shouldn't ban the kiss. They should just take off on time regardless of who's kissing.

Or maybe they will just be left behind, have to run to catch the train.

Bit harsh really. I have no one to kiss goodbye, but I don't begrudge other people kissing That smiley is a bit gross really in this context
