Why should we pray ?

- To help in major decisions, overcoming temptation and in life itself.
- Some-think that just because of God does not answer right away, in our mind we
think that he is not listening. But that is not fact, sometimes he does not answer immediately, he is an all knowing God and wait to answer at a more meaningful time for your own good..
KEEP BELIEVE IN GOD.

We pray because we are not we are and we owe everything to God in this world. So it is right to give him thanks and praise him as he is the one who gives us blessings and life.

Great post. God always hears our prayers, but like you said, he gives the answer when and how it's best for us.

I feel that each person has their own personal relationship with their higher power.
I also feel that when we pray, we are looking for a quick answer and not necessarily seeing the answer given us.
Our world has a quick one and if we can slow down and really look at what is around us we can see the answers to our prayers.

Prayer is a way of thanking God for the life he has given us. When we pray ,God listens, He might not answer immediately and fulfill our wish. Sometimes when you ask for something to God he might not give you as he knows its bad for you. God knows better than us what is good for us and what is bad for us. Sometimes what u ask god to give you , which according to you it is good for you ,but god knows its not good for you,so even though you pray for it you wont get it

Prayer is like meditation when your mind gets completely focused on a single issue and one can draw strength from it because it unclutter the mind . I am not a very religious person but at the same time I can see how a believer is able to draw strength and courage through his/her belief and that's what matters.

We should not pray just for things we want or need. I have prayed everyday of my life since I was about 4 or 5. I don't always ask for things, I pray to thank him for things I have and the people in my life. Sometimes I pray for him to watch over the people in my life and sometimes for people that I know needs help, even if I do not know them.
Even though we may not always get an answer right away, in time you will see he is there for us. My prayers are not always for me or my family and friends, I also pray for out military, our country and so many people hurting that I might see in the news or on tv. Sometimes for the nasty people that need help.

I pray everyday for my family members and parents safety, keep them away from harm, ask forgiveness from God for the sins we had done, ask for peace among the countries which are on verge of fighting, pray for planet Earth, that is what I do daily.

I will respond to this thread in a somewhat radical departure from other views. First, God is a spirit and prayer is the only means ours spirit beings can communicate with Him. If you are a sinner, your prayers are amiss, they are like empty noises to God's ears. He will not listen, phew!

Very nice points on why we should pray. We can also pray to praise God for all he does and thank him for blessings he gives us.

though i do not prey often i have a strong believe, that even if i wanted something so bad and i prey for it a lot, but it didn't happen that dose not mean god is not listening, maybe there is something better coming along, i truly wish i could teach my kids one day that believing in a higher power in something bigger than you is a great thing.

Once we know for sure that the Higher Power exists and what He is like then we know for sure that our prayers are being heard. Like you said, just because we don';t get the answer we want right away, we know that God will answer when it is time.
Just like when your children ask for something, sometimes they will have to wait because you know when it is time to give them what they want.
