I Miss Home

From recent responses to discussions it made me realize how much I miss my home community.
I moved for a better school district (greatly needed) and we have settled in here but after a year and a half it still doesn't feel like home to me. My children are doing better, getting the help they need in the right areas, but I still miss who familiar we were with everyone in the community I came from.
I am not lonely by terms of needing to talk to a person every day, but it's the familiarity that I miss I guess.
Ever move? Been homesick?

I also had to move somewhere to study and after one year, i persuade my parents to go back to a place i am more comfortable of calling "home". I left my parents and live in our old house alone.

Oh that's kind of neat. Moving back to your childhood home. Nice that's you can call it home and you can be an adult in your own home then too.

I have always disliked moving, but I ended up moving house like mad. Once, I moved to another state (a bigger city) and I hated almost every day there. The weather pattern was different, the trees didn't look romantic and dreamy enough, the houses and streets narrow and dirty, etc. I left after 10 years.

I am considering moving again in another year or two, but we will see. This next consideration is a big one because it would be another state.

We moved over the mountains to another part of my state due to hubby getting work here. I love the little place that I live in and I crave where we used to live. That part of the world is so congested with traffic and yet I love its green forests and trails. I need it but its too expensive to buy over there again and my hubby did not feel he was treated well there so we'll not be going back.

A career has to be the better choice. After retiring, we can move where ever we want! LOL Least that's something to look forward too.

@kprofgames Economics prevents such easy solutions. Others want to live in paradise and there goes the price.....

I sure have. The worst time was when I was a Jr in high school. I moved away from the town I was born and raised in. I was really active in my school and had life long friends and a boyfriend. I was depressed and homesick for a long time.
I'm sorry you are going through this.

That would be very hard being that far away. Was it a long time away?

Yes, though sometimes we are fine with the new place, we might still miss those friends and environment in the old places. Though I have not really move with my whole family, I used to stay in different places when I was studying, and I kinda missed my old friends though I met new friends too. But it's good that you have found a better school for your kids and they are doing better too.

I do miss being close to my parents. I moved one county away but it is an almost 45-minute drive to their home and money is always tight it seems. I do not miss other family members and the kids I grew up with though.

@kprofgames I went to see my parents this weekend. I am glad I did. They are both not doing that great. I am rather scared for them at the moment. Now that I have my vehicle back, I am going to make it a regular habit.

@Shellyann36 I think we come to a time we know where we need to be and when. I am going back and forth about moving back around my family (would give me a 40 mile commute one way), but I think I am needed more there than here. There is so much back and forth. I wouldn't say it's a guilt thing, more over I know I need to pull the knee boots up and start to step up more.

Last few months been going back a few times a week to help my mom out. Like you it's about a 45 minute drive. Time gets away from me. I work graveyard shift and have no concept of time the way it is.

When in college I lived farther away, but I also lived with my brother. I've never been that far away from family before either.

I agree, we may be far or go to other places for some time, but we always yearn to return home.
