Working Out From Home Vs Going to the Gym

Well two years ago i was so active at the gym and i found my new love 'Taebo' and it was so addictive that I couldn't afford missing a day at the gym.I used to hit the gym in the morning then in the evening I go for a jog.I lost a lot of weight and it helped relieve me off a lot of stress since I was going through a difficult time at the moment.I turned a lot of heads and broke necks. But as soon as I achieved my goal i became lazy and with time all the weight came back
Now this year i tried the gym again but i was adding weight and the instructor was making the workout sessions so obvious. No diversity at all.I decided to quit and research on some home workouts.I came across things i like e.g dance workouts,Taebo and Shaun T workouts. Shaun T makes me feel like i can collapse but the results are worth the while.I can say i like what I'm seeing so far.I am encouraged to keep pressing on..
Whats your take? What works for you? What didn't work?If you work out at home who do you work out with?Maybe i can borrow a leaf!

I can't tell you how many life memberships I have to various gyms. . Now, my workout is walking about 4-5 miles a day and doing weights or the treadmill at home. I don't look great, but I'm happy enough. I'm still thinking of joining a gym.

@Kind4321 Lol and thank you. I'm basically too lazy at times for the gym or too busy. I walk early in the morning after feeding and walking the cat. Sometimes I walk in the afternoon or with my husband after dinner.
My son and future DIL do the video thing. They are grueling. She also works out at the gym. He rides his bike. My other son belongs to a gym and his wife does the Soul Cycle thing.
My fat husband works out at the gym three days a week. Go figure?

Nikki, it's great that you are working out! It's great that you are seeing positive results, too. I used to belong to a gym, but the only thing I liked to do there was swim laps. The rest I would do at home. I let my membership lapse because I didn't have the time to drive so far to the nearest pool. Now I workout at home. I do a few free weights, stretch cords, and aerobic work, like bike riding or even just walking. I am a former competitive swimmer, and using weights has kept up my strength even after I stopped swimming. I also do workout videos occasionally or just dance to music. I especially love doing free weights because it adds flexibility, tone, strength and balance. I vary my workouts too so that I can work different muscle groups. I encourage you to keep going. You will see the results, guaranteed!

@Kind4321, regarding weight training, body weight can stay the same or even go up if you are adding lean muscle mass. Although a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, your body will look leaner and meaner! When I was swimming, we used to weigh ourselves in a water tank, and it would gives us a ratio of body fat compared to lean muscle mass. I was one of the lightest swimmers on my team, but I weighed the most underwater due to the amount of muscle I had. I had more muscle mass than any other woman on the team, so I weighed the most underwater. So, as you develop more lean body mass, your body will look leaner, but your weight may stay the same or even increase due to the increased muscle mass. Thank you for the tip about Keisha Lee! I will have to check it out. And yes, swimming was my passion when I was younger. I just loved swimming, and I grew up in a very hot climate where the temperature was around 115 degrees in the summer, so I was always in the pool! Please keep me updated on your progress, and if I can help, let me know...

@LifeHappens wow thank you.So from what I'm gathering it depends with body type and weights can add to your weight or make you stay the same.So i will definitely focus on cardio and HIIT workouts for now then focus on weights later because honestly I cannot afford to add weight at the moment.
Check out Keisha and tell me if you like her workouts. What swimming technique helps in loosing tummy and arm fat or what do you think can help with that.Thank you for your valuable intput.

Thank you Recliner for cheering me on.We all need a cheerleader in this life!I also maximize on the free workouts glad to hear you do to.Its good to hear that you let the gym membership lapse because it was not convenient for you.I believe working out has to be flexible and fun and not a life burden.
Wow a former competitive swimmer that's alot of fun and work to.Was it your passion? What was the driving force?I wish you were near me i could use some training on swimming techniques that can help tone my body.
If you enjoy dance workouts check out Keisha Lee she has loads of free dance workouts as short as 10 minutes but quite intense.Funny thing the last gym I had subscribed to i added alot of weight instead of loosing yet i was eating right i later started thinking its because all that the instructor made me do is strength training.Do you think that can add someones weight?
I will definitely report back to you after three months and update you on my progress!

That is great that you now have your own home routine and of course I bet the gym cost money.
I do not go to gyms altho there is one not far, I would only go to swim.
I do a bit of yoga and tai chi in the mornings. Not much but enough.

@Kind4321 what i feel is, some amount of belly fat is gone, chest become little tight, the best part of home gym is you dont need to be properly dressed, so that you can see the movement of your muscles, if you have any tips for belly fat, please give me, i have to reduce before my cousin's marraige, i am giving my best on my workout, but i am eating at the same time.

@Kind4321 well when I first start I was so bad I berly could keep up with him, sometimes I stop and take a break and day by day I felt a little stronger my sister is very advanced and she motivated me a lot along the way, you have to drink lots of water during and after, I make my own shake banana, almond butter, almond milk, and some honey for sweetness, you can make any kind of fruit you like, and I have 3 meals a day with lots of vigetable and fruits, I just finished Brazilian butt left, and am starting t25 next week, good luck with your workout, YOU CAN DO IT ??

For me, stress can make me lose weight faster. I know having stress is not good but I lose weight when I get stressed.
Taking long walks works for me. I also take less of processed food and deep fried food. That is how I maintain my weight

@Destesh It only means you eat more when you have too much in your mind.
I mostly can't eat when sad. I lose appetite when I am stressed. I think that is why I lose weight. :)

@Kind4321 yes, the gym, I used to belong to closed down, they had classes in there kick box, jazzercise, and I did very well at these back then.
At home I had a work out dvd that I followed, and it worked for awhile, I just think I do better out of the house.

I'm glad you found something that works. I found a diet plan that is so easy the weight is melting off. It's Whole30 and you only go to the grocery store with the list they provide of the foods that will help take the weight off. It's so easy and everything you eat is good for you. I also go to the YWCA every morning to swim. I'm there at 5 AM. I'm looking and feeling better than I have in years.

I recently bought an exercise equipment, for me I prefer doing it at home. I might lazy going to the gym or just be intimidated by others who look better. and I can control when I want to exercise.
