Do you think your Identification Card is not yet expired?

Well, mine was. Last Saturday my Thai workmate showed me her Thai passport. She has not change her nationality into German. But I did ages ago. I showed her my Identity Card which was always in my bag.
Behold! I saw that my ID has expired more than a month ago. 10 years have passed already! Good gracious me! It was just like yesterday when I went to the municipal hall to have a new ID. That was before we went to Ireland.
Why have I not received a reminder letter from the municipal hall? They did that a few weeks before my ID expired.
So yesterday I went to the municipal hall and applied for a new one. I brought a biometric photo of me. It was not even 10 minutes and I was finished. I will get a letter when my new ID will be finished. I hope. It will be ready in 3 weeks.
Have you checked your ID if it is not expired, yet?
Good night Mylotters and thanks for reading. Wishing you a good hump day.

Oh dear..well they used to send out notices in the mail for dates of expiration for reminders, but not anymore, so we have to rely on ourselves only.

@thelme55 We could put a reminder on the date on our online calendars. Is it expensive to renew there Thelma?

Yes, they don't send a reminder letter anymore @TiarasOceanView. We have to rely on ourselves.

In my country, id does not have expiry dates, only driving license and passport has. Maybe you are an expat in german so there is expiry date

We have an expiry date for our German IDs and Passports. 10 years is the validity. It does not matter if I am an Expat or not as long as I have a German passport @peachpurple

In Germany, both have expiration date @millynyash. Passport and ID expire after 10 years of issuance.
