Those Who Never Work Out

Those who never work out: walking, jogging, and many other physical activities will definitely become fatter. The fat usually accumulates mostly on stomach or waist. This explains why the size of waist (in my previous discussion) can indicate one's level of health.
Some of us do not like physical exercises. However, we must set aside a little time to move like walking to a nearby restaurant or shop. That will improve your overall health if we do it regularly. Not necessarily everyday. Once or twice a week will do us good.

Some cannot workout, some cannot lose weight if they work out. I do work out, doesn't mean my waist line is getting any smaller. There are more problems to weight than just eating or sitting around, there are disorders and diseases that cause it as well.

I think we can lose weight if exercise is done at moderate intensity where fat is burned.

@yanzalong They you could probably learn more about diseases and disorders that affect weight. I have hypothyroidism, I exercise 3 times a week because that is all my body can handle. I do not lose weight from exercise, my body doesn't process proteins like that.

@yanzalong 5 kilometers per run if just for health but if there is marathon I do 10 kilometers or more, depending on the schedule of training.

I used to be a competitive swimmer, and I used to swim 8-9 miles almost every day, in addition to weightlifting and occasional running. This is an extreme amount that I will not do anymore, however, science has proven that a little exercise during any given week can benefit people greatly. Even if people have just a little time on their hands, say before work or after, before dinner, or even during their lunch breaks, the benefits of exercise are undeniable. We should keep in mind is that we only have one body to carry us through life, and if we don't take care of it, we know what could happen. One other thing to keep in mind is that the more muscle we have on our bodies, the more one can take in for calories, since muscle requires more calories to operate efficiently. If someone is trying to lose weight, decrease caloric intake and develop muscle mass by weightlifting and do some aerobic activity, such as walking or riding a bicycle.

@yanzalong , thank you. I only did swimming. I loved to swim, but I didn't care for running that much. The pool was so much cooler!

That is more intake of fat than that is burned. We have to know how much is burned per minute.

Its important to burn the calories we intake. Or later on it will get accumulated as fat in the body.As fat increases in the body our body becomes lethargic .
Later on we may face serious health issues also.Fat easily accumulates in the stomach and waist area..As we increase food in our body,we must make sure that our physical activities should also be increased.

I go to YOU-FIT gym every week, I used to go everyday but that was before work and University got in the way, now I walk on campus which is very big. I have to go to a classroom on the second floor and fourth floor I take the stairs not the elevator at least I get the exercise, but I am going back to the gym to lift weights again, could not lift weights for 2 months messed up my left shoulder lifting too much, too fast and i also dislocated my shoulder after lifting weights then doing laps in the pool, in the same day.

I walk 1/2 a mile every night and then either do my yoga routine or upper-bod weights, I prefer the yoga. But exercise isn't always the answer to weight loss, and for many, it doesn't do much. I only exercise for the toning benefits, I don't ever want to be "skinny fat" as some people call it - meaning, skinny but still jiggly all over. I've never had a problem with my weight, I've always been average-sized or thin. Usually thin. All it takes is for something to go wrong or for me to start worrying about something and I right away get thin again. But in general, exercise doesn't really affect me one way or another. I just do it.
Overweight people aren't necessarily overweight because they eat too much, too often, or don't exercise. It has soooo much to do with WHAT they are eating, especially if they are over the age of 30. CARBS and SUGAR are the 2 trouble-makers, and they always will be. Doesn't mean you should never consume them, just make sure that they are the 2 smaller portions of any dish/meal. Protein always needs to be the bully of the meal. I keep my total carbs/sugar at about 80-90 grams per day. Most people will eat closer to 300-400 grams. People at 400+ grams are usually overweight, and that's only because of sugar spikes....and then insulin spikes.....cortisol spikes.....causing fat to be stored, esp. around the abdomen. You can do sit-ups until doomsday but if you are loading up on carbs and sugar, the fat will always sit there. My stomach is flat and I don't do any ab routines at all (although I am tempted to get this one ab machine I've had my eye on, just for kicks.) Fat doesn't get stored in my ab-area or midsection, because my main caloric intake comes from protein and vegetables. It's a good way to live. For me, anyway. Because my blood sugar would always drop and be all over the place (I wasn't diabetic, I am hypoglycemic)...so eating this way keeps my sugar levels nice and steady and it just works for me.

@yanzalong No prob. That's correct. If I ever do miss a night of exercise, (I exercise at night,) it's only because I've done a really big job during the day that has tired me out, like cleaning my entire room or something like that. I just feel like certain jobs are enough exercise for that day. Or sometimes I will just accidentally fall asleep early and then I don't get around to it, so I will do double the next night, so I'll walk an entire mile to make up for the .5 mile I missed the night before, + I'll do yoga AND the weights instead of one or the other. But that rarely happens. I usually stay on track. I weigh 123 lbs. and I'm 5'6". Stopped counting calories a long time ago, because it simply doesn't work if you eat too many carbs. And sugar. Staying focused on protein and veggies is the best way to go. It really can be that easy, I keep trying to get my whole family on board but nobody in this house seems to care.
