A five hour drive

I have a five hour drive on Monday and I am pretty much dreading it. By the end of it my eyes will be so sore and my back will be achy. I hate having to drive long distances really, and I'm always torn between trying to get there as quick as I can, against just taking it nice and steady. Oh well it will be worth it when we get there. Do you like driving ?

What a long time driving! I remembered that one time, my bf drove 3 hours way home from a tourist city, I nearly got mad while just sitting at passenger's seat for 3 hours..

Actually, I have never had a Drivers license, and for the most part now do not regret it. I am 53 yrs old and cannot imagine starting to drive now, nor could we afford the extra gas if I did drive or a second car. But when driving places it does seem like it can take a while... that is why for most super long trips anymore it is better to fly.

@krausehome but I hate flying even more!! Perhaps I should just stay at home all the time

I like driving. Can you take some breaks along the way though so it doesn't seem so stressful?

Yes @snowy22315 I might have to stop half the way just to have a little rest and stretch my legs.

I'm sorry you will have such a long drive. I do not drive at all, way too scared and I freeze up behind the wheel.

I don't mind it, but yeah, long distance driving would not be something that I'd like to do anymore these days... My husband is also starting to prefer the passenger seat lately - he'd let me or one of our sons drive whenever he can get away with not driving...

I used to love the thrill of driving. Now a 5 hour drive means that I get out and stretch every hour or so. I sure hope you have a good time when you get there and aren't too consumed by the thought of having to do it again in order to get home. Safe travels!

We used to do five hour drives to our son's college. Luckily, we brought the dog, so had to take a couple of breaks. Good luck to you!

@diannen - I am dreading it really, but I will put some good music on and hopefully the traffic won't be too bad.

I found when having to make a long drive it's best to make sure you have a comfortable seat. My current vehicle is amazing on long drives it's so comfortable and relaxing. When we take my husbands truck it's not as comfortable I usually bring my knitting needles or crochet hook with me to keep me busy so I don't focus on the drive.

Yes I would prefer a comfortable seat rather than sitting on knitting needles or a crochet hook
