Maldives are beautiful, I never been there but by all that I saw, including the tsunami images, that´s heaven on earth.

I didn't before, but I do now... Once a British protectorate it gained independence July 2,1965. The constitution was ratified on November 11, 1968. Maldives is a republic consisting of 1,191 islands in the Indian Ocean. Of the 1,191 islands only 200 are inhabited/ Economy is based on tourism and fishing. Population at the 2002 cenus was 280,000. At 298 square miles it is indeed a small country. Thanks for making me update my geography.
