Everyone needs a Jim Bailey

I was standing outside waiting for the bus to arrive. It was a cold December morning in Utah and I was wearing the only coat I owned. As I boarded the bus I saw Jim and sat down in the seat in front of him. He told me that my coat didn't look very warm so he wanted to buy me a new one. We abandoned the bus at Walmart and went inside where he bought me a new coat.
Jim Bailey wasn't perfect but he was a perfect friend for me.
A couple of years later I learned that I would need to have a tonsillectomy. I was very independent but I was also in a vulnerable position. I never liked asking anyone to do things for me but I knew I would need transportation home from the hospital and someone to pick up my pain medication for me after surgery.
Once again, Jim was there for me. He made sure I was okay and checked on me daily. It's an incredible blessing to have a best friend.
Do you have a best friend?
If so, what kinds of things do you do with and for each other?

Thank you. It makes me realize that I want to be THERE for someone if they need my help.
