Only the medium and platform changed, the players remain the same

To date, there is nothing that compares to the the internet when it comes to opportunities, both well intended and evil designed. When I say well intended, we see a surfeit of marketers on the various social media selling all types of commodities and every kind of service. Most of these are hardworking individuals with a product or service they genuinely promote and hope to sell.
On the other hand, the social media is also teeming with wolves in sheep's hides. They prey on the gullible with every trick they can design just to deprive their victims of their money or material possessions. There are also those who use the social media to advance their perversions, mostly of the sexual kind.
Well, most of these things are not that new, they were as old as civilization itself. Only, they change form according the present situations, i. e. the medium and the platform. Perhaps, the playing field only became bigger and wider, even broader, and the ruse requiring more innovation.
So, while honest people work even harder to keep body and soul together, criminals perpetrate their evil designs with greater creativity and wanton impunity.

That's always the case with deals. Not all goes well, I suppose.

The evil perpetrators are even more on the internet today, this has serious effect on people with genuine intention because everyone tends to be very careful when dealing on internet especially on business deals either because of past experiences or what they have heard about internet fraud.

True, indeed, Ahmed. Even if people have become extra careful, the criminals also are crafty and innovative. So, in dealing via the Internet, always do it on the side of caution.
