How do you go to work?

My friends and co-workers find it weird for me to walk from home going to work which takes 30 minutes whereas I can take a cab or a jeepney ride which will take me 15 minutes. I myself I don't have complaints about it. I know some benefits of walking and sprinting. It's a form of exercise, releases stress, sets the mood and makes mind clear. I also like listening to music while walking home to relax. Besides it allows me to save money. Doing it for a month allows me to buy another 1.2 kgs of milk for my two toddlers. How do you go to work? Do you find it weird to walk from home going to work and vice versa? Would you walk to work to save? Tell me your thoughts, fellow myLotters.

Good for you, that's nice! Is it your car, company-owned or a taxi?

@Lizirazo nice! Did you pay for it in whole or did you get it via installment payments?

This is good but have you tried biking to work? It has the same benefits as of running/walking plus it is more convenient. I usually take a cab going to work.

Nope, never tried biking. The last time I tried it was way back 2000 and after biking in my mom's provide during vacation, I never do it ever since.

There is a nice walking space that leads to the seaside of our town going to work so it is pretty much nice to walk going to work. The downside of it is I neer to be mindful of my surroundings when I walk because it is darj durin night time and there's low lighting fixtures installed in the sidewalk so I'm a bit afraid of possible snatchers and crimes in the area.

There's nothing wrong in walking. We know our strength... right... I go to office in cab , it's office cab. My office is too far and it's 20kms far.

2kms is a bit far. I can't travel that far via by foot. I'd die once I reach my workplace. My limit is until 10kms. My normal pace is between 2-5kms

How I wish I could learn how to bike, but apparently I don't have a bike to practice with. Besides, the last time that I tried riding a bike was way back 2000 and I never rode on it ever since.

My bus stop is about thirty minutes walk so i walk every morning when going to work and in the evening when coming back home. I don't see any problem with walking and if it saves you some money its even better.

I have my own motorcycle which I use in going to work. It saves me more especially if me and my wife have to go to the market, or have to go to the neighboring city for some things to do like shopping or going to church or some friends.

@resy21curapika Just always take double extra care when riding motorcycles because it's more prone to accident than cars.

@neildc I agree. I lost my balance that tine that's why I skied through the concrete along with my motorcycle before. Luckily I only got a bruise in my arm and leg. The good thing is I'm still alive. It happened in one of the major roads in our port areas where there are big container trucks most of the time. I'm also happy that I weren't able to crash into one of those, too.

I tried riding on a bicycle but after a few months riding it, I got involve in a motorcycle accident and hit my leg badly. I never tried it again ever since. My dad restricted me to do so before. But I am a fan of motorcycles, too. If ever I would be given time to practice, I will do it again, definitely

@resy21curapika I use my bike to go to my workplace which is 5 kms from my house.I prefer to walk there, but if I do that,I would be late.

In my first few months I experimentrd the time that will take me to reach my workplace. On the first week, I got late by five minutes. By then I figure out that even if it takes me 20-30 minutes to walk, I need to leave the house 45 minutes earlier than my start time at work to be sure. You can adjust your travel time too if you're about to walk going to work. But since you're riding a bike and you're comfortable with it, I think that will be just fine.

@else34 Now I get it, you have a lot of things to do before going to work. That's nice. Whatever will works for you is actually fine. Are you the only person in the house or do you have family members? I'm just curious, thanks

@resy21curapika If I go to my workplace walking at a fast pace,it takes me more than half an hour to reach there.Problem is that I can't leave for my workplace much before time. That's why I use my bike to go there.I have too busy a schedule in the morning.Sweeping my room, laundry, doing yoga etc etc.Hope, you understand.

My jobs are all out of walking distance. One is about 20 miles away. But I do cycle sometimes to two of my jobs.

I had one place I worked at where I could walk to work. Now, since I have two suitcases to take to where I sell I take my scooter with the attachment attached to the scooter back and forth to the place.

Great! It would be very uncomfortable walking if you still carry heavy stuff with you. It's better if you have a scooter to ride on for your convenience. Do you park it infromt or inside of the office bulding or do you still need to park it in a parking lot then carry the stuff while walking towards your workplace?

@resy21curapika Resy, I do not have a work place actually. I sell at a place once a week. I park it a little outside and put lots of locks on it and have an attachement for my suitcases and have a lock that I put on the scooter and on the attachment. I have shoulder problems so glad I have my scooter.

Its a good way to release stress and yeah a way of saving money and sometimes "time" because of traffic and all that. Are your walking with your heels or you change footwear?
• Pasay, Philippines

Sometimes, I change my footware from my working shoes to walking slippers. I was a fan of heels before but not anymore. I gave all of my shoes to my friends as I am now a fan of sneakers. There is one time I recall, I rode a public utility vehicle and it took me 45 minutes going home. And I was thinking that I could have walked home! Lol

Nice! Do you park in front of your office building or do you park it just nearby then walk to the office building?

By my own vehicle.i have to because it lets me free to go at my time and space..using public transport is risky because of the busy traffic.. Walking is not practical for me as it is a long distance and I will be drenched in sweat by the time I reach office..

I stay at home and work online. In the past I do walk like 1 km to work everyday after the bus stop and let me go out. I am happy now I do not have to sweat and tired.
